Louis Pasteur

Louis Pasteur fue un científico, químico y bacteriólogo y fue reconocido como el padre de
la microbiología antigua. Nació el 27 de diciembre de 1822 en Dolé, Francia. Se casó en
1849 con Marie Laurent, con quien tuvo cinco hijos, sin embargo, tres de ellos murieron a
causa de la fiebre tifoidea, dicho suceso marco su vida profesional.

Realizó grandes contribuciones al campo de las ciencias, y especialmente al campo de la

química. Uno de sus descubrimientos más importantes y que lleva su nombre, fue la
pasteurización. También realizó estudio de la fermentación, que hoy en día se utiliza para
elaborar algunos productos alimenticios. Otros de los aportes de Pasteur en la ciencia fue
que demostró que la generación espontánea no existía

También hizo grandes aportes en el mundo de las vacunas, especialmente para las
enfermedades de la rabia y del carbunco entre otros hallazgos. El 4 de junio de 1887 con
ayuda del Estado Francés fundó el “Instituto Pasteur” una organización sin fines de lucro
con el objetivo de investigar y prevenir distintas enfermedades infecciosas. Louis Pasteur
murió el 28 de setiembre de 1895 en Francia a la edad de 73 años a causa de un falló
cardiorrespiratorio.

Louis Pasteur was a scientist, chemist, and bacteriologist and was recognized as the father of
ancient microbiology. He was born on December 27, 1822 in Dolé, France. He married in 1849 with
Marie Laurent, with whom he had five children, however, three of them died from typhoid fever,
this event marked his professional life.

He made great contributions to the field of science, and especially to the field of chemistry. One of
his most important discoveries and that bears his name, was pasteurization. He also carried out a
study of fermentation, which today is used to make some food products. Another of Pasteur's
contributions in science was that he showed that spontaneous generation did not exist

He also made great contributions in the world of vaccines, especially for rabies and anthrax
diseases among other findings. On June 4, 1887, with the help of the French State, he founded the
"Institut Pasteur", a non-profit organization with the aim of investigating and preventing various
infectious diseases. Louis Pasteur died on September 28, 1895 in France at the age of 73 from a
cardiorespiratory failure.
