RESUMEN

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado es un estudio archivístico detallado sobre el conjunto

de documentación musical correspondiente a la Catedral de Astorga.

Los objetivos que pretendemos alcanzar con este trabajo son los siguientes: desarrollar, a
través de un exhaustivo examen de sus fuentes musicales primarias, un análisis
documental y una organización de sus partituras, libros de coro y libros de polifonía, que
permita la recuperación, estudio, difusión, conservación y la puesta en valor del Archivo
Musical de la Catedral de Astorga.

Para conseguir los propósitos expuestos anteriormente es necesario emplear un método

archivístico. En el desarrollo del análisis hemos utilizado todo el fondo musical de la
Catedral de Astorga, así como las contribuciones más transcendentales de teóricos en
materia de archivos y las principales normas internacionales relacionadas con la
archivística general y la archivística musical en particular, para establecer una
metodología de trabajo y una propuesta de conservación preventiva que permita el acceso
a los usuarios, así como la incorporación de una herramienta descriptiva completa que
permita identificar aquellos documentos de interés sin necesidad de consultar todo el
fondo.

Por tanto, no pretendemos realizar un estudio musical, ni musicológico, sino establecer

una organización del archivo fundamentada y un catálogo que permita el acceso
documental a investigadores y al público en general, para que en un futuro se puedan
desarrollar trabajos de esa índole.

ABSTRACT

The present dissertation is a detailed archival study on the compendium of musical

documentation related to the Cathedral of Astorga.

The objectives meant to achieve in this project, through an exhaustive examination of the
primary musical sources, are to develop a documentary analysis and an organization of
their scores, choir and polyphony books, which allows the recovery, study, dissemination,
conservation and recognition of the musical archive of the Cathedral of Astorga.

In order to accomplish the aforementioned purposes, the employment of an archival

methodology is required. The entire musical background of the Cathedral of Astorga is
used in the development of the analysis, as well as the main theorists’ contributions in
matters of archives and the principal international norms related to both the general and
musical archival. The objective is to submit a preventive preservation methodology and
proposal that allows the access to different users as well as a complete descriptive tool
which would identify those documents of interest without having to consult the whole
file.

Therefore, this project is neither a musical nor musicological study, but a work whose
purpose is to set up an archival organization and an index to which researchers and general
public could access in order to contribute the development of future studies of this nature.
