Relata la historia de Mason, un niño afroamericano de 14 años quien a su corta edad durante el
verano se dedicaba a recolectar tabaco con sus hermanos, pero en sus tiempos libres le encantaba
ayudar a su padre a redactar los escritos para el grupo de derechos humanos.

Un día masón recibió la noticia por parte de su padre, que el grupo de derechos humanos le regalo
una máquina de escribir y decidió escribir una carta en agradecimiento al grupo. Desde ese
entonces se dedicó a practicar en ella para mejorar sus habilidades de escritura.

El verano de Mason estaba a punto de terminarse y su padre lo lama a él y a sus hermanos a una
reunión para decirles que trabajo en algo muy importante y que podrían asistir a una escuela más
cercana.

Mason y sus hermanos estaban sorprendidos ya que la escuela más cercana solo podía asistir
personas de color blanco. Llego el día de ir a la escuela, Mason y sus hermanos estaban en la
parada de bus, pero este no paro y siguió su camino ignorando a los jóvenes. Esto mismo sucedió
durante dos días seguidos.

Su padre estaba furioso, llego el tercer día y el bus paro, los tres quedaron sorprendidos. Al subir
todos los pasajeros ignoraron su ingreso, mientras caminaban hacia la parte trasera del bus.

Al llegar a la escuela no fue muy agradable su bienvenida por parte del director, los hermanos y
Mason debieron encontrar solos sus salones de clases.

Mason era aplicado por lo que le iba muy bien en clases, pero le encantaba mucho la clase de
escritura. En casa practicaba lo visto en clase, esto hacia que las hojas donde practicaba se
terminaran rápidamente. Por lo tanto, necesitaba dinero para comprar más hojas, así que aplico a
las ofertas laborales que ofrecía la escuela para estudiantes. Mason recibió un puesto en la
biblioteca.

La encargada de la biblioteca era su maestra de escritura, la maestra le dio instrucciones de pasar

libros a cartas tipo tarjeta. Mason lo hizo sin pensarlo y termino antes del tiempo pensado, la
maestra estaba sorprendida.

Al pasar el tiempo Mason le demostró a la maestra que su talento era la escritura así que le fue
permitido usar la maquina eléctrica de la escuela.

Un día salió un torneo de escritura al cual podían participar los estudiantes que más habilidad
tuvieran con la máquina de escribir y Mason fue elegido para participar. El día de la competencia
Mason escogió una máquina de escribir manual, esta le recordaba a la que tenía en casa.

El chico gano la competencia de escritura, pero nadie creía que fuera posible, nadie aplaudió,
nadie dijo ni una solo palabra. El premio fue recibido por el director.

La enseña que transmite este libro es que no importa, que digas o hagas para ganarte valor, tus
acciones siempre hablarán por ti y tus talentos describirán tu verdadero ser sin hacer daño a
nadie.

It tells the story of Mason, a fourteen years old African-American boy who at his young age during
the summer dedicated himself to collecting tobacco with his siblings, but in his spare time he loved
helping his father write the writings for the Human Rights Group.

One day a Mason received the news from his father, that the human rights group gave him a
typewriter and decided to write a letter in thanks to the group. Since then he dedicated himself to
practice in it to improve his writing skills.

Mason's summer was about to end and his father calls him and his brothers to a meeting to tell
them that he was working on something very important and that they could attend a nearby
school.

Mason and his brothers were surprised since the nearest school was only for whites. The day came
to go to school, Mason and his brothers were at the bus stop, but he never stopped and continued
on his way ignoring the young people. The same happened for two days in a row.

His father was furious, the third day arrived and the bus stopped, the three were surprised. On
boarding, all passengers ignored their entrance, while Mason and his brothers walked towards the
back of the bus.

Upon arriving at school, the welcome from the principal was not very pleasant, the brothers and
Mason had to find their classrooms alone.

Mason loved writing class. At home I practiced what I learned in class, this meant that the leaves
where I practiced would end quickly. Therefore, I needed money to buy more sheets, so I
requested the job offers the school offers to students. Mason received a position in the library.

The library administrator was his writing teacher, the teacher told him to pass books to cards.
Mason did it very fast, the teacher was surprised.

Over time, Mason showed the teacher that his talent was writing, so he was allowed to use the
school's electric machine.

One day a writing tournament came out to which the students who had the most skill with the
typewriter could participate and Mason was chosen to participate. On the day of the competition
Mason chose a manual typewriter, it reminded him of the one he had at home.

The boy won the writing competition, but no one thought it was possible, nobody applauded,
nobody said a single word. The award was received by the director.

The teaching that transmits this book is that it does not matter, that you say or do to gain value,
your actions will always speak for you and your talents will describe your true being without
harming anyone.
