ORIGIN OF THE PERUVIAN NAME "VILCA"

VILCA. It means "SACRED". VILCA is the Castilianization of HUILLCA which

means SACRED. WILLCA is also spelled. The sacred in Peru begins when there
are priests, who identified everything that should be respected and venerated
because he was a divinity. In history, the Chavín civilization consecrated religion as
the center of its culture, for being sacred. That is why, from almost all the Peruvian
territory, the various cultures made their pilgrimage from their distant places of
residence to Chavín de Huantar in Ancash. All people with the last name HUILLCA
and those with their last name VILCA, the same as WILLCA have the same origin
and have the same meaning.
