Su nombre completo es Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, pero es conocida mundialmente sólo

como “Adele”. Es una cantante inglesa, nacida el 5 de mayo de 1988 en la ciudad

británica de Tottenham, al norte de Londres. Es hija de la inglesa Penny Adkins y del
galés Mark Evans, un hombre alcohólico que las abandonó cuando Adele tenía sólo dos
años, dejándole así a su madre la responsabilidad de criarla.
Su madre se convirtió entonces en un apoyo esencial, ya que fue ella quien fomentó el
interés de Adele por la música llevándola a conciertos siendo aún muy niña. Motivo por
el que quizá con tan sólo cuatro años comenzó a cantar, interesándose desde entonces
en los distintos tonos de voces y teniendo a las Spice Girls como su inspiración e

En 2003, a los catorce años, descubrió unos discos compactos de Etta James y Ella

Curiosamente, tras haberse graduado, estaba más interesada en descubrir talentos y
convertirlos en celebridades que en iniciar una carrera musical. Pero en una ocasión,
como parte de su preparación en la escuela de artes, había grabado algunos
demos y un amigo los había subido a MySpace, hecho que produjo que en un
corto tiempo fueran descubiertos por Richard Russell de XL Recordings, quien
maravillado por aquella portentosa y sensual voz rebosante de matices que tiene la

Al principio, Adele dudaba de la veracidad de la oferta y pensaba que se trataba de “un
pervertido de Internet” ya que nunca había oído hablar de dicha disquera, así que
decidió ir acompañada a la reunión. De esta manera, Adele firmó su primer contrato
discográfico a mediados del 2006 con el mánager Jonathan Dickins de September
Management, a quien le habían recomendado. Sin embargo, en septiembre del mismo
año dejó dicho sello y firmó con Jamie T de XL.
Así, en octubre de 2007, lanzó su canción debut, aquella compuesta años
antes: “Hometown Glory”. Con esta disquera lanzó también su segundo
single: “Chasing pavements“, que recibió una buena crítica, lo que llevo a que distintos
medios difundieran su música en distintas radios e incluso invitaran a Adele a interpretar
sus canciones.
Fue ese el single que la consagró como firme promesa al conseguir el segundo puesto
en las superventas. Tanto que, al cabo de un año ya era invitada a compartir escenario
con artistas de la talla de Björk y Paul McCartney.

Durante la grabación de su colaboración en la canción “My Yvonne” de Jack Peñate, fue

que conoció al productor Jim Abbiss, quien se encargó de producir buena parte de su
álbum debut: “19” y su sucesor, “21”.
Su álbum “19”, titulado así por la edad que tenía cuando escribió y compuso muchas de
las canciones, fue lanzado en 2008, alcanzando el número 1 en los medios, lo que
conllevó a que fuera certificado 4 veces como platino en el Reino Unido, y recibiera
