 Introducción:

La Diversidad Cultural debe considerarse como parte de la biodiversidad, se refiere al grado de diversidad
y variación cultural, tanto a nivel mundial como en ciertas áreas, en las que existe interacción de
diferentes culturas coexistentes. Al igual que la diversidad genética o de especies, algunos atributos
de las culturas representan "soluciones" a los problemas de las supervivencias en determinados
ambientes.
Además, al igual que otros aspectos de la biodiversidad, la diversidad cultural ayuda a las personas a
adaptarse a la variación del entorno.
La diversidad cultural se manifiesta por la diversidad del lenguaje, de las creencias religiosas, de las
prácticas del manejo de la tierra, en el arte, en la música, en la estructura social, en la selección de los
cultivos, en la dieta y en todo número concebible de otros atributos de la sociedad humana. Muchos
estados y organizaciones consideran que la diversidad de culturas es parte del patrimonio común de
la humanidad y tienen políticas o actitudes favorables a ella. Las acciones en favor de la diversidad
cultural usualmente comprenden la preservación y promoción de culturas existentes.

 ¿Qué es Cultura?

Cultura se refiere al conjunto de bienes materiales y espirituales

de un grupo social transmitido de generación en generación a

hábitos, valores, patrones, herramientas y conocimiento.
Si nos detenemos unos segundos a reflexionar sobre los significados del término cultura
podremos descubrir sus distintas acepciones. En ocasiones hablamos de cultura
denominando la dimensión artística de algo -el mundo de la cultura, por ejemplo-, y así
solemos referirnos a ella en términos de sustancia, diciendo que alguien es muy culto, o
que tiene mucha cultura. En otro contexto, la palabra cultura se utiliza sin embargo para
describir un todo que parece determinar el comportamiento de la persona, utilizándose
para aclararnos que eso que no comprendemos es normal en "su cultura"... Vemos cómo el
término cambia de acepción representando conceptos bien diferentes que cobran sentido
distintos en situaciones distintas.
 Los antropólogos, la gente que estudiamos la cultura,
las distintas formas de ser, de sentir y de pensar llevamos
más de un siglo enredados en este debate sobre qué es
la cultura; y seguimos en ello. Si bien no hay atisbos de
que se resuelva pronto, hay algo en lo que estamos
bastante de acuerdo: no hay una cultura, sino que hay
varias culturas. De hecho, hay muchas... ¡muchísimas!,
pues si hay algo que caracteriza a la cultura es precisamente
su diversidad. Constitutivamente la cultura es diversa.
Cada uno de nosotros la utiliza para vivir de forma original
y genuina. Decir cultura no es decir colectivo.
La función de la cultura es garantizar la
supervivencia y facilitar la adaptación de los
sujetos en el entorno.
 ¿Que es Diversidad?

El término diversidad, se refiere a la diferencia o a la distinción

entre personas, animales o cosas, a la variedad, a la infinidad o a la
abundancia de cosas diferentes, a la desemejanza, a la disparidad o a
la multiplicidad.
Cada cultura encarna una visión del mundo como respuesta a la
realidad que vive el grupo social. No existe, por lo tanto,
ningún grupo social carente de cultura o "inculto". Lo que sí
existe son diferentes culturas y, dentro de estas, diferentes
grupos culturales, aun con respecto a la cultura dominante.

La diversidad cultural o diversidad de culturas refleja la multiplicidad, la convivencia y la interacción de las
diferentes culturas coexistentes, a nivel mundial y en determinadas áreas, y atiende al grado de variación y
riqueza cultural de estas con el objetivo de unir y no de diferenciar.

La diversidad cultural es parte del patrimonio común de la humanidad y muchos estados y organizaciones
luchan a favor de ella mediante la preservación y promoción de las culturas existentes y el diálogo
intercultural, comprendiendo y respetando al otro.

 Conclusiones:

1. Entendemos que la diversidad personal y cultural es consustancial al ser humano y contribuye a su

enriquecimiento: existen diferentes formas de sentir, pensar, vivir y convivir. Esta diversidad
enriquece la esencial similitud que tienen todos los seres humanos.

2. Exigimos que se garantice el disfrute real de los derechos fundamentales a partir de la lucha contra
las causas de las desigualdades.

3. Rechazamos el intento de justificar la segregación de las personas, de rebajar sus expectativas o de

privarles de derechos utilizando un concepto manipulado con respecto a la diversidad.

4. Las tendencias uniformadoras que niegan la diversidad y no contribuyen a la igualdad

corresponden a modelos impuestos por los grupos dominantes, incluidos las actuaciones
androcéntricas y patriarcales.

5. Denunciamos las desigualdades que existen en nuestra sociedad como causantes de muchos de
los problemas sociales y educativos, algunos de los cuales se achacan interesadamente a la
diversidad personal y cultural y a la educación comprensiva.
