DEFINICIÓN
La definición de recurso ha sido objeto de no poca controversia tal
como se percibe en diversos trabajos como los de Barney (1991),
Amit y Schoemaker (1993) y Chi (1994). Un recurso es cualquier
factor de producción que esté disponible para la empresa, es decir,
que pueda controlar de una forma estable, aún cuando no posea
claros derechos de propiedad sobre él.

Navas y Guerras (2002, p.186) dan una definición consistente con la

anterior que indica qué “recurso es el conjunto de factores o activos
de que dispone la empresa para llevar a cabo su estrategia”.
APORTACIONES

Quizás una de las aportaciones más

originales que proporciona el enfoque
anterior es la clasificación de recursos
que se propone en función de su
naturaleza, distinguiendo entre recursos
Tangibles, divididos en Físicos y
Financieros, y los Intangibles, separados
en Humanos y No Humanos. Estos
últimos separados a la vez en
Tecnológicos y Organizacionales (Huerta
et al., 2004).

● Normalmente los recursos no son producidos por sí
mismos y las tareas productivas, por lo común,
requieren la cooperación de recursos trabajando
juntos. El término capacidades organizativas se
refiere a la aptitud de una empresa para realizar una
actividad concreta (Wernerfelt, 1984).

● Existe una estrecha interdependencia entre los

recursos y las capacidades, en el sentido de que las
segundas descansan sobre los primeros, a la vez,
que aquellas contribuyen a aumentar el stock de los
recursos (Dierickx y Cool, 1989). Esta
interdependencia es tal que pueden llegar a
confundirse ambos conceptos.
