 Introducción

La sabiduría popular habla de los tres años como la llegada del niño y su familia a una especie de “oasis
de paz”. El conocido pediatra T. Brazelton (1992) escribe que este periodo representa para los padres
“una segunda luna de miel”. El niño/a de tres años es visto, en términos generales, como un chiquillo
encantador. Ello es debido a toda una serie de capacidades que está adquiriendo. Por ejemplo, su
capacidad creciente de atención le permite jugar durante un cierto tiempo dedicado a una sola actividad.
Los padres pueden, entonces, ejercer su papel de maestros enseñando a sus hijos cómo se construye un
tren con tacos de madera, a hacer garabatos conjuntamente, imitar trazos, apilar cubos de plástico y
construir torres, jugar a muñequitas, a “supermercados”, etc. Los padres y educadores tienen ante sí una
gran variedad de juegos y situaciones educativas que pueden compartir con los pequeños de forma
placentera. Además, a pesar de que ya con anterioridad el niño disfrutaba ante un libro de imagen.
Un mundo nuevo: la escuela
A pesar de que la enseñanza obligatoria se sitúa a partir de los seis años, cada vez son más
los padres que escolarizan a sus hijos con anterioridad a esta edad. Desde la aprobación de
la LOGSE (Ley de ordenación general del sistema educativo español), la educación de 0-6
años también se contempla como parte del ciclo educativo. Puesto que la mayoría de
escuelas maternales no ofrecen continuidad más allá de los 3-4 años, a esta edad, la gran
mayoría de los niños y niñas se incorporan a la institución que tradicionalmente conocemos
como escuela o colegio. El hogar familiar no es el único contexto en el que el niño aprende
los significados culturales de la sociedad en la que vive o las normas y valores de
comportamiento que rigen los principios del proceso de socialización

Dice que la educación infantil se comprende de dos ciclos:

Primer ciclo; extenderá hasta los 3 y segundo ciclo desde los
tres a los 6 años
Ese primer ciclo se atenderá el desarrollo del movimiento
Al control corporal y las primeras manifestaciones de la
comunicación del lenguaje
El segundo ciclo: se procura que el niño aprenda hacer el uso
del lenguaje descubra las características físicas y sociales del
medio en que vive.
Es carácter voluntario es decisión de los padres enviar al
infante a una institución educativa para seguir su educación

● En la escuela, el niño tiene que aprender una serie de normas
estandarizadas, y va a ser reprendido por sus faltas. Además, hay
toda una serie de expectativas sobre lo que tiene que aprender,
expectativas dictadas por la cultura de la sociedad en la que vive
y a las que tendrá que amoldarse. En la línea de lo que venimos
diciendo, el sistema escolar puede verse como un flujo intenso de
significaciones culturales. Lo son en la manera como organizan el
tiempo y el espacio de los niños (tiempo de trabajar/tiempo de
recreo...), en la significación que dan al trabajo, al orden y
disciplina, en los códigos de comportamiento (llegar con
puntualidad/ levantar la mano para hablar o pedir permiso/
estarse quieto en el aula, etc.); en las aptitudes que pretende
cultivar (en vistas a un rendimiento social/profesional )
