PREGUNTAS CON CONDICIONAL

Las preguntas en el primer condicional, o condicional de futuro, que

empiezan con una question word siguen el siguiente orden:

question word + will + sujeto + verbo + if + sujeto + verbo en presente

What will he do if she leaves him?

Cuando what o who son el sujeto, formamos la oración así:

question word + will + verbo + if + sujeto + verbo en presente

What will happen if we fail?

Practica las siguientes frases contrayendo y sin contraer what

will y who will.

¿Qué hará (él) si se le acaba el What will he do if he runs out of

tiempo? time?

Who’ll be my manager if you

¿Quién será mi jefe si tú dimites?
resign?

¿Dónde viviremos si tenemos que Where will we live if we have to

mudarnos? move?

¿Cómo reaccionarán si fracasamos? How will they react if we fail?

Which one will you choose if

¿Cuál elegiréis si os dejan?
they let you?

¿Cuándo iréis de acampada si no When will you go camping if you

podéis ir este fin de semana? can’t go this weekend?

 ¿Cuánto costará si How much will it cost if you
descuenta (usted) un 10%? take 10% off?

¿Cuántas podrá terminar (ella) si How many will she be able to

trabaja todo el día? finish if she works all day?

¿A qué hora llegaré (allí) si cojo What time will I get there if I
este vuelo? catch this flight?

La estructura de una pregunta en el segundo condicional o condicional

de presente es la siguiente:

question word + would + sujeto + infinitivo (sin to) + if + sujeto +

pasado simple

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Aquí tampoco se pueden poner would e if juntos. Por cierto, ¿te

acuerdas lo que pasaba con el verbo to be en el segundo condicional?
Con todas las personas se convierte en were: if I were, if she were, if
he were, if it were, etc.

¿Qué pensarías si yo desafinara al What would you think if I sang

cantar? out of tune?

¿Cuál de las dos sería mejor para Which of the two would be better
ella si estuviera embarazada? for her if she were pregnant?

 ¿Qué cambiaríais si de vosotras What would you change if it were
dependiera? up to you?

Seguimos con where /uéa/ y when /uén/. ¡Que no se oiga ningún sonido
de g!

¿Dónde aterrizarías si tuvieras Where would you land if you had a

un billete para Brazzaville? ticket to Brazzaville?

¿Cuándo se lo dirías a tu jefa si When would you tell your boss if you
tuvieras que dimitir? had to hand in your notice?

¿Dónde volvería (él) si tuviera Where would he go back to if he had

oportunidad? the chance?

Y terminamos con who /hhhu/ y how /hhháu/.

¿A quién recurriría (ella) si (él) no Who would she turn to if he

fuera su amigo? weren’t her friend?

How would you do it if it were

¿Cómo lo harías si dependiera de ti?
up to you?

¿Quién nos echaría una mano si Who would help us out if we

estuviéramos en apuros? were in trouble?

Preguntas con tercer condicional o condicional de pasado

Recuerda que la mayoría de las question words empiezan

por w (what, who, when, where, which, why) o la contienen,

como how, así que será fácil recordar que siempre les seguirá would y
luego el sujeto.

Question word + would + sujeto + have + participio pasado + if +

sujeto + had + participio pasado.
Evita contraer would con las question words. Aunque no es incorrecto y
se oye en el inglés hablado, no se suele escribir. La más
común es who’d: Who’d he have talked to if he hadn’t seen
you? (¿Con quién habría hablado si no te hubiera visto?) Recuerda
también que if va en la misma oración que had.

 ¿Dónde habríamos trabajado si no Where would we have worked if

Ya estamos llegando al final. Solo faltan who y how.

¿Con quién se habría casado si no se Who would she have married

hubiera casado con él? if she hadn’t married him?

¿Cómo se las habrían apañado si se How would they have got by

hubieran perdido? if they had got lost?

¿A quién habrían despedido si no nos Who would they have fired if

hubieran despedido a nosotros? they hadn’t fired us?
