Ticmas-Guia Unidad 1 - My People and Me
Ticmas-Guia Unidad 1 - My People and Me
grupo musical extranjero; cuando instalan un programa de juegos en la computadora;
Lesson Plan
Here you will find complementary activities and suggestions for working with the
material in TICMAS.
Some things to take into account:
● There is a “Help” button below some of the rubrics. It shows an explanation of the
activity (not a literal translation). Its use is optional. The idea is to offer choices for
students who need more help, for any reasons, or if the task is set as homework.
● Use the “Road Map” at the start of the units to set the objectives with the students.
Check with the section To Remember at the end of the unit whether they have been
met.
● Some blocks are long and some others are quite short. Plan ahead and decide how
you would like (or need) to work with the material.
● Whenever we use content from the Internet, websites or apps, it is important to check
before using it. The content/page may not be available or it may contain adverts that
are not suitable for the classroom.
After working with the contents in TICMAS, we suggest the following activities to be
carried out with the class as a whole or with a group of students. Some of the activities are
suitable for reinforcement and some others are a sort of challenge, maybe for those students
who find the previous activities too easy.
Lesson 1: “Family”
Vocabulary: Numbers

Family
If you want to revise family members, choose a famous family that all your students
know. It may be The Simpsons, for example. Draw the family tree on the board or print
templates of a family tree for students to complete. Ask them to add as much information as
they know (or find) about them. Play “Guess who”.
Numbers
To revise numbers play a math game. Students must prepare flashcards with the
numbers and move to form the number resulting from the operation announced by the
teacher.

A more competitive version would have the class divided in two groups. The group
which first gets the number correctly scores a point.
Lesson 2: “Friends”
Friends - A song

Ask students to say at least 10 words they could hear in the song. Ask them to listen
again. What do they think the song is saying? Is it positive about friendship? Why/Why not?
Choose some key words from the song (e.g. love, hope, end, need, attention, etc).
Ask students to listen to the song and identify the words when they appear. Write some of
Sing together!
Friends are vital at any age, but mainly in adolescence when close relationships are
build among young people.
