The measures of central tendency and position are statistical measures that aim to
summarize a set of values in a single value. They represent a center around which
the data set is located. The most commonly used measures of central tendency
are: mean, median, and mode and the position divide a data set into equal groups.
They are generically called Quantiles, and for their study we will take the most
common Quartiles, Deciles and Percentiles
These measures are used to summarize the data sets that will be subjected to a
statistical study, they are called measures of central tendency because generally
the highest accumulation of data is found in the intermediate values.
OBJECTIVE
• Recognize the different measures of central tendency and location or position and
their respective use in statistics in non-grouped data and grouped data for the
study and calculation of a sample taking into account the distribution of the data
group.
• Calculate a value that is representative of the data set under study.
• Synthesize the data into a representative value.

1. ARITHMETIC MEAN.
It is the value obtained by adding all the data and dividing the result by the total
number of data (N). Expressed more intuitively, we can say that the (arithmetic)
mean is the total amount of the variable equally distributed among each
observation
The arithmetic mean or average stands out for representing the equitable
distribution, balance, equity. It is the value that the data would have, if they were all
equal. Or, also, the value that would correspond to each of the data of the
distribution if their total sum were distributed equally

4. MEDIANA. MEDIAN

In conclusion, the Central Tendency Measures allow us to identify the most representative
values of the data, according to the way they tend to concentrate.
The Arithmetic Mean indicates the average of the data; that is, it informs us of the value
that each of the individuals would obtain if the values were distributed equally.
The Median, on the other hand, informs us of the value that separates the data into two
equal parts, each of which has fifty percent of the data.
Finally, the Mode indicates the value that is repeated the most within the data.
