I have always been fascinated by how the voice can communicate beyond the mere
words used and how its timbre, deeply rooted in our personal experiences, can evoke a variety
of emotions and sensations. The voice is something incredibly intimate yet universally
relatable, like the very nature of sound. In the context of large choral ensembles, a different
way of perceiving sound emerges: a physical and sometimes even visceral experience. During
these performances, indescribable connections are created between the participants,
connections that I believe must be personally experienced to fully understand. These
connections create a truly unique way of perceiving sound, maybe due to the intimate and
universal nature of the human voice.
The concept of "chorality", with its social aspects such as communication and
polyphony, intrigues me greatly. It goes beyond composition and allows for a broader
meditation on the subject. Through my choral practices, I have always used sound with a
human perspective, creating deep connections with our environment. My interest in spaces
stems from my experiences singing in diverse venues such as churches, pavilions and theaters.
I firmly believe that understanding and perceiving these spaces is crucial to performance,
conducting and composition. In addition, the use of technology is vital, as it allows me to
explore new ways of perceiving, manipulating and making sound, opening up infinite
possibilities that would otherwise be unattainable.
Above all, I have always maintained that being a spectator is where I enjoy the most.
The act of perceiving sound, space and the harmonious integration of the two is a deeply
satisfying experience for me. I consider myself a composer, creating the music I long to hear,
and a conductor, striving to deliver interpretations that resonate with my personal artistic
vision.
