1. Conectores De Adición:
● And = Y (We buy a new suitcase and a bag for our trip = Compramos
una maleta nueva y un bolso para nuestro viaje)
● Second = En segundo lugar (Second, mix the flour with the salt and the
eggs… = en segundo lugar, mezcla la harina con la sal y los huevos…)
● Then / Next = Después / Luego (I was confused, then he explained to
me how to do it = Estaba confundida, luego él me explicó cómo hacerlo)

3. Conectores Causales:
● Because = Porque (I want your opinion because you know better this
subject = Quiero tu opinión porque conoces mejor este tema)
● Because of = Debido a (I’m on the list because of a chest pain = Estoy
en la lista debido a un dolor de pecho)
● For = Por (He only competes for the first place = Él solo compite por el
primer lugar)
● Since = Puesto que (I was looking for you since you did not appear after
2 days = Te estuve buscando puesto que no aparecías después de 2
días)
● As = Puesto que (As you did not come to the interview, you cannot
apply for the job = Puesto que no vino a la entrevista, no puede aplicar
al puesto de trabajo)
● Due to / Owing to = Debido a (I was late for work due to an accident on
the freeway = Llegué tarde al trabajo debido a un accidente en la
autopista)
● In order to = Para / Con tal de (We will do our best in order to teach you
English = Haremos todo lo posible para enseñarte inglés)
● By means of = Por medio de (I learned how to change a tire by means

para volver pronto)
● As if / As though = Como si (She talks as if she knows everything =
Ella habla como si lo supiera todo)
● Than = Que (My mother is taller than my father = Mi madre es más alta
que mi padre)
5. Conectores Concesivos
Estos son usados con la finalidad de mostrar o indicar una dificultad, oposición o
desacuerdo.
Como su nombre lo dice, expresan una condición o requisito necesario para que
ocurra algo más.
● Then = Entonces (When you finish your project then call me for lunch =
Cuando termines tu proyecto entonces llámame para comer)
● Moreover / Furthermore / Besides = Además / Por otra parte / Para
colmo (Exercise will help you lose weight and, moreover, it is good for
your health = El ejercicio te ayudará a adelgazar y, además, es bueno
para tu salud)
● In addition = Además de (She asked if she might record the interview in
addition to taking notes = Ella preguntó si podía grabar la entrevista
además de tomar notas)
● Not only… but also = No solo… sino que también / Incluso (Your dog
not only bit my shoes but also ripped my curtains = Tu perro no solo
mordió mis zapatos sino que también rompió mis cortinas)
● What’s more = Más (You should remember all the steps, and what's
more, you have to do them well = Debes recordar todos los pasos y , lo
que es más, debes hacerlos bien)
9. Copulativos:
● Or = O (You can paint the sun yellow or orange = Puedes pintar el sol
de amarillo o naranja)
● Either… or = O… o (The new design can have either wings or wheels =
El nuevo diseño puede tener o alas o ruedas)
● Neither… nor = No… ni (Neither I nor my wife enjoyed the trip = Ni yo
ni mi esposa disfrutamos el viaje)
● Whether… or = Si… o (I don’t know whether my grandmother will
recognize me or not = No sé si mi abuela me reconocerá o no)
● Or else = O si no / de lo contrario (Go away or else I will be mad = Vete
o si no me enojaré)
● Otherwise = De otro modo (You need to change the roof, otherwise, it
will collapse = Necesitas cambiar el techo, de otro modo colapsará)
11. Conectores Funcionales del Inglés:
● So = Entonces (So, show me your work to see what have you done =
Entonces, enséñame tu trabajo para ver qué has hecho)
● So that = Para que (You need to take the medicine so that you can feel
better = Debe tomar el medicamento para que pueda sentirse mejor)
● So as to = Para que / De manera que (Let the light in so as to the plants
to grow = Deja que entre la luz de manera que las plantas crezcan)
● So as not to = Para no (She gave me her number so as not to forget it
= Ella me dio su número para no olvidarlo)
● In order to = Para (I work hard in order to earn more money for us =
Trabajo duro para ganar más dinero para nosotros)
Estos conectores permiten dar una pauta o guía para explicar mejor una idea.
● For example = Por ejemplo (Women didn’t always have the same rights
as men. For example, women couldn’t vote in Colombia before 1954 =
Las mujeres no siempre han tenido los mismos derechos que los
hombres. Por ejemplo, las mujeres no podían votar en Colombia antes
de 1954)
● For instance = Por ejemplo (She loves seafood at any moment of the
day. For instance, she ate a tuna sandwich as breakfast yesterday =
Ella ama la comida de mar en cualquier momento del día. Por ejemplo,
ella comió un sandwich de atún como desayuno ayer)
● Such as = Tal como (Latin American countries such as Colombia speak
Spanish = Países latinoamericanos, tal como Colombia, hablan
español)
● Like = Como (She is intelligent like her mother = Ella es inteligente
como su mamá)
● Apart from = Aparte de (Students were quiet during the Principal’s
speech apart from the new kid in the class = Los estudiantes estaban
callados durante el discurso del director, aparte del chico nuevo de la
clase)
● That is to say = Es decir (My grandfather died five years ago, that is to
say, in 2016 = Mi abuelo murió hace cinco años, es decir, en 2016)
● In other words = En otras palabras (In other words, your personal
profile has a market value = En otras palabras, tu perfil personal tiene
valor de mercado)
● i.e. (id est) = Es decir (My father is vegan, i.e., he does not eat any
animal-based products = Mi padre es vegano, es decir, no come
productos de origen animal)
16. Para Enfatizar:
Estos conectores son usados para dar importancia o resaltar un punto en específico.
Estos conectores del inglés señalan sin duda alguna seguridad sobre algo o alguien.
