Un Británico en Nueva York

John Taylor went to the United States a few days ago. He has a friend who’s
living in New York. He wanted to spend some days with his friend and do some
shopping too.
John Taylor fue a Estados Unidos hace unos días. Tiene un amigo que vive
en Nueva York. Quería pasar unos días con su amigo y también hacer algunas
compras.

Billy Thompson, that’s his friend’s name, lives in the north of the city, on a
wide street, full of people and stores. He’s renting a nice furnished two bedroom
apartment in a small building with a large garden and a beautiful swimming pool.
He pays a high rent for this apartment, but he has got a good job and can afford it.
He says that if he were going to live in another city, he would like to live in
Caracas. He has visited Venezuela several times.
Billy Thompson, así se llama su amigo, vive en el norte de la ciudad, en una
calle ancha, llena de gente y tiendas. Está alquilando un bonito apartamento
amueblado de dos dormitorios en un pequeño edificio con un gran jardín y una
hermosa piscina. Paga un alquiler alto por este apartamento, pero tiene un buen
trabajo y se lo puede permitir. Dice que si se fuera a vivir a otra ciudad le gustaría
vivir en Caracas. Ha visitado Venezuela en varias ocasiones.

John had never been in New York before, so he wanted to take his friend’s
advice to visit the best places. Billy told him the best way to know a city was to
walk along the streets. John agreed, and they went for a long walk in the Central
Park, and along Fifth Avenue. They went to a basketball game after dinner and
returned home very late.
John nunca antes había estado en Nueva York, por lo que quería seguir el
consejo de su amigo para visitar los mejores lugares. Billy le dijo que la mejor
manera de conocer una ciudad era caminar por las calles. John estuvo de acuerdo
y dieron un largo paseo por Central Park y por la Quinta Avenida. Fueron a un
partido de baloncesto después de la cena y regresaron a casa muy tarde.

They were having some dinner when the telephone rang. It was Billy’s
girlfriend suggesting him to go to the beach next day. Billy apologized, and invited
her to have lunch with them instead. She accepted, and they decided to have lunch
at a French restaurant.
Estaban cenando cuando sonó el teléfono. Era la novia de Billy quien le
sugirió que fuera a la playa al día siguiente. Billy se disculpó y la invitó a almorzar
con ellos. Ella aceptó y decidierón almorzar en un restaurante francés.
