Hyperthyroidism is a characteristic disease of women but it can also occur in men when
they have iodine deficiency in the thyroid glands, the pathology does not have the proper
primary information required by patients who suffer from it. The present clinical case is
based on the follow-up of a 37-year-old male patient with hyperthyroidism, with the general
objective of applying the nutritional care process to avoid complications in the patient's
health, and it is achieved through the nutritional assessment of the patient, by prescribing
an adequate feeding plan and establishing compliance with the nutritional treatment. The
study methodology is based on a nutritional approach based on the nutritional evaluation
of the patient through the application of anthropometric, clinical, and biochemical
parameters to determine the adequate intake of the patient with hyperthyroidism.
Nutritional recommendations are proposed along with conclusions of the clinical case,
basing the relevance of a nutritional approach together with medical treatments for the
improvement of the patient, the results obtained are favorable during the first and second
month, normal values were reflected in their biochemical data, allowing understand the
Importance of diet in patients with hyperthyroidism.
