RESUMEN
Los nematodos agalladores (Meloidogyne spp.) son uno de los fitoparásitos más dañinos en
varios cultivos agrícolas a lo largo de la costa sur del Perú. El objetivo del presente estudio fue
caracterizar el nematodo agallador y determinar la frecuencia de los nematodos asociados al
cultivo de alcachofa en la Irrigación Majes. Se recogieron muestras de raíces y suelo en cultivos
de alcachofa. Los géneros de nematodos asociados a los cultivos fueron determinados y
cuantificados por características morfológicas. Las poblaciones de Meloidogyne spp. extraídas
de las raíces se caracterizaron utilizando fenotipos de esterasa (Est). En las muestras de suelo
se encontraron siete géneros de nematodos fitoparásitos: Meloidogyne, Helicotylenchus,
Mesocriconema, Aphelenchus, Tylenchorrynchus, Pratylenchus, Hemicyclophora y nematodos
de vida libre. En las raíces muestreadas, 32 poblaciones de Meloidogyne spp. se encontraron,
distribuidas en cuatro especies: (1) M. hapla Est H2, Rm: 0.92, 1.18, con 47.37% de frecuencia
en las muestras; (2) dos fenotipos para M. incognita Est I1, Rm: 1,0 (47,37 %), Est I2, Rm:
1,03, 1,08 (31,58 %); (3) un fenotipo para M. arenaria Est A1 Rm: 1,19 (21,05%); y una
especie atípica denominada Meloidogyne sp. Rm: 0,84 (21,05%).
Root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne ssp.) are one of the most damaging phytoparasites in

associated with artichoke crop in the “Irrigación Majes”. Samples of roots and soil were
collected in artichoke crops. The nematode genera associated with the crops were determined
and quantified by morphological characteristics. Meloidogyne spp. populations extracted
from the roots were characterised using esterase phenotypes (Est). Seven phytoparasitic
nematode genera were found in the soil samples: Meloidogyne, Helicotylenchus,
Mesocriconema, Aphelenchus, Tylenchorrynchus, Pratylenchus, Hemicyclophora and free-
living nematodes. In the roots sampled, 32 populations of Meloidogyne spp. were found,
distributed into four species: (1) M. hapla Est H2, Rm: 0.92, 1.18, with 47.37% frequency in
the samples; (2) two phenotypes for M. incognita Est I1, Rm: 1.0 (47.37%), Est I2, Rm: 1.03,
1.08 (31.58%); (3) one phenotype for M. arenaria Est A1 Rm: 1.19 (21.05%); and an atypical
species named Meloidogyne sp.
2. OBJETIVO GENERAL:

El cultivo de alcachofa es muy utilizado en la industria, está muy extendida a nivel mundial
y su utilización es principalmente como alimento y en la medicina (Noldin et al. 2003). A
nivel nacional es uno de los principales productos exportables. La región de Arequipa tiene
una participación de más del 40% de área cultivada a nivel nacional (SIEA 2018).
Sin duda alguna, que con esta investigación, se podrá contribuir con datos relevantes que
podrán aportar nuevas premisas para plantear nuevas estrategias de control en el ámbito
genético.
4. ANTECEDENTES:
El cultivo de alcachofa es afectado por diversos problemas, entre ellos, los nematodos
fitoparásitos, como el género Meloidogyne spp. Carneiro (1993) reporto la ocurrencia de M.
javanica y M. incognita, en tres cultivares de alcachofa que fueron severamente atacados por
estas especies, en Brasil. Más adelante, Carneiro (1991) describió la técnica de electroforesis
de isoenzimas para la identificación de especies de este género. De esta manera se logró
identificar varias especies parasitando diferentes cultivos. Se identificaron 2 especies de
Meloidogyne en plantas de Higo en la región de Rio Grande del Sur, Brasil (Lima, 2013).
Kirsch (2016), identifico 3 especies de Meloidogyne en el cultivo de soja en la región de Rio
Grande del Sur, Brasil. Así mismo, Negretti (2017) Identifico 5 especies de Meloidogyne
asociados al cultivo de arroz en el sur de Brasil. Como podemos ver, Brasil es el país que más
ha desarrollado y aplicado la técnica de electroforesis para la identificación de diferentes
especies. En Perú también se ha reportado, mediante la utilización de esta técnica, especies
de este género parasitando cultivos como la vid, en el norte del Perú, logrando identificar 5
especies, (Varas, 2018). Por otro lado, Cossio (2018), reporto la ocurrencia de especies en
diferentes cultivos de hortalizas en la costa norte del Perú, entre ellas la alcachofa. Cabe
resaltar, que es el único reporte que se tiene registrado, en cuanto a identificación de especies
de Meloidogyne en alcachofa. Miranda (2020), logro identificar 3 especies de este género
asociadas a las cucurbitáceas en diferentes provincias de la Región Arequipa, Perú, entre ellas
la Irrigacion de Majes.
En cuanto a la ocurrencia de otros nematodos fitoparasitos, Rossi y Monteiro (2001), reporto
la ocurrencia del nematodo lesionador radicular Pratylenchus penetrans en alcachofa en el
Estado de São Paulo, tomando suma importancia por los daños y pérdidas ocasionadas por
este género. Más adelante se reportó, en 2 provincias de Turquía, la ocurrencia de 17 géneros
de nematodos asociados al cultivo de alcachofa, entre ellos Helicotylenchus, (Kepenekcİ İ,
2013).

Abstract
Root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne ssp.) are one of the most damaging phytoparasites in various agricultural crops along
the southern coast of Peru. The aim of the present study was to characterise the root-knot nematode and determine the fre-
quency of the nematodes associated with artichoke crop in the “Irrigación Majes”. Samples of roots and soil were collected
in artichoke crops. The nematode genera associated with the crops were determined and quantified by morphological char-
