Para un hombre, y salvo que desee hacer cambio de género, el hecho de que su miembro viril se
transforme en femenino debe ser algo traumático y, aunque en principio podríamos pensar que
algo así es imposible que suceda, la realidad es otra, y la ciencia y la medicina cuentan con miles
de casos registrados y documentados.

Sin embargo, no se trata de una patología física, sino mental, aunque sus implicaciones son
igualmente dramáticas. Se le conoce como el trastorno de Koro, un descontrol mental sufrido
principalmente por personas de China, aunque también se han diagnosticado casos aislados en
personas de todo el mundo y de diferente origen étnico.

Las personas que sufren dicho trastorno ven que su pene poco a poco se va reduciendo de tamaño
al punto que desaparece y, en los casos más extremos, asume la forma del órgano femenino.

Por supuesto, y como aclarábamos al principio, no es que esto ocurra en forma física, sino que se
trata de una patología psicológica que debe ser tratada por el especialista.

Al parecer, este trastorno tendría su origen en el miedo de los hombres chinos por satisfacer a una
mujer debido al tamaño de su miembro, así como la preocupación o creencia de que se está
reduciendo y que, eventualmente, va a desaparecer.

En las mujeres también ocurre una patología análoga a la del hombre, sólo que en ellas surge la
creencia de que sus pezones se reducen de tamaño cada vez más, al punto de desaparecer.

Aunque el trastorno suele ser temporal, dichos episodios son más normales de lo que se podría
pensar, al punto que se ha consignado en el manual diagnóstico y estadístico de los trastornos
mentales, preparado por la asociación estadounidense de psiquiatría y que trata problemas como
simples trastornos del sueño hasta severos trastornos psiquiátricos.

It seems that this disorder would have its origin in the fear of Chinese men to satisfy a woman
because of the size of their member, as well as the concern or belief that it is reducing and that,
eventually, it will disappear.

A similar pathology to that of men also occurs in women, except that there is a belief that their
nipples are getting smaller and smaller, to the point of disappearing.

Although the disorder is usually temporary, such episodes are more normal than one might think,
to the point that it has been recorded in the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders,
prepared by the American Psychiatric Association, which treats problems from simple sleep
disorders to severe psychiatric disorders.
