RESUMEN
El objetivo de este estudio es realizar una revisión sistemática sobre las posibles
reacciones adversas neuropsiquiatrícas del montelukast en grupos etarios niños y
adultos con enfermedades asmáticas. Para la realización de este estudio se trabajo
mediante revisiones sistemáticas, se realizó búsqueda de literatura electrónica en la Base
de datos Cochrane, PubMed y Scielo , según la FDA entre 1998-2007 reportaron 33
eventos relacionados a suicidio, mientras que a partir del año 2008 se reportaron 59,
en el año 2017 se comunicaron los resultados de un estudio de cohorte retrospectivo
(2011-2016) realizado en Canadá, donde reportaron 17 reacciones adversas, 16
correspondieron a montelukast, la depresión fue la reacción adversa notificada con más
frecuencia en la base de datos mundial de la OMS y entre los niños la RAM más común fue
la agresión. Se llegó a la conclusión que el el uso de montelukast en 14 días de
tratamiento presento síntomas neuropsiquiatricos los cuales fueron notificados por la FDA
a partir del año 2007 y exigió a los fabricantes de montelukast incluir estos posibles efectos
adversos en los registros para la comercialización.
The objective of this study is to carry out a systematic review on the possible
neuropsychiatric adverse reactions of montelukast in children and adults with
asthmatic diseases. To carry out this study, systematic reviews were carried out, an
electronic literature search was carried out on events in the Cochrane Database,
PubMed and Scielo, according to the FDA between 1998-2007 they reported 33 related
to suicide, while from 2008 59 were reported, in 2017 the results of a retrospective
cohort study (2011-2016) carried out in Canada were reported, where 17 adverse
reactions were reported, 16 corresponded to montelukast, depression was the most
frequently reported adverse reaction in the WHO world database and among children
the most common ADR was aggression. It was concluded that the use of montelukast
within 14 days of treatment presented neuropsychiatric symptoms which were notified
by the FDA as of 2007 and required the manufacturers of montelukast to include these
possible adverse effects in the marketing records.
