El presente progresivo negativo lo formamos con la siguiente estructura:

Pronombre verbo to be +particula not verbo + ing

I am not cooking

Debes recordar que la negación solo se coloca al lado del verbo to be.
Activity: Unscramble the sentence in negative form and translate to Spanish Example: I / study /
French. = I am not studying French.

1. I/ talk / on my cell phone = I am not talk on my cell phone.

2. We / sit / in class. = We don’t sit in class.
3. I / look / at / page 25. = I don’t at page 25.
4. We / watch / TV. =we don’t watch TV.
5. I /wear / a hat. =I don’t have a hat.
6. The teacher/ drink / a cup of coffee. =the teacher doesn’t drink a cup of coffee.
7. The students / sit / at their desk. =the students don’t sit at their desk.

Activity: Complete the sentence in negative.

Example. Mariana is not studying at home. (study)

Cuando hacemos preguntas con el presente progresivo en Inglés, debemos recordar que hacemos preguntas de dos
tipos.

 Las Preguntas Cerradas

 Las Preguntas Abiertas o de información con WH/ question..
Ahora analicemos ambos tipos de oraciones

Las primeras de ellas son preguntas que se pueden responder con un si o con un no.

Esta es la estructura para hacer esas oraciones

Verbo to Be Pronombre Verbo con Ing Predicado

Are you playing soccer?

Is She watching TV?

Estructura para las preguntas

Ahora veamos ejemplos de preguntas y respuestas con ese tipo de oración, observa que la respuesta es corta y su
estructura es en positiva partícula yes +pronombre +verbo tobe, en negativo es: No+ pronombre +verbo tobe
+not. Example.

 Yes, I am
 Are you paying attention?
 No, I am not
 Is she cooking?
 No, she isn’t
 Is she listening to music?
 Yes, she is
 Are they running?
 Yes, They are
 Are they singing?
 No, they aren’t

La segunda forma de hacer preguntas con el presente progresivo es mediante las preguntas de información.

Las preguntas de información son:

Where? ¿Dónde?

Who? ¿Quíen?

What? ¿Qué?

When? ¿Cuando?

Which? ¿Cuál?

Why? ¿Por qué?

Estos son ejemplos de oraciones interrogativas con el presente progresivo con una posible respuesta.observa que la
estructura es Wh+verbo tobe+verbo principal con la terminación ing. La respuesta para las preguntas
con wh, son largas y se forman con la misma estructura de una oración afirmativa.

 What are you doing?

 I am watching TV? Pronombre + verbo tobe+verbo principal+ing+complemento.
 What’s she doing?
 She is listening to music
 What’s he learning?
 He is learning English
 Where are you going?
 I am going to the Supermarket
 Who are you dating?
 I am dating Sasha
 Where are they playing?
 They are playing by the park.

