PRESENTACIÓN
Las Funciones ejecutivas (FE) son procesos cognitivos que
cumplen un rol central para el rendimiento académico y el
éxito en la escuela, el trabajo y la vida. La capacidad para
cambiar flexiblemente el curso de pensamiento, mantener y
manipular información en la mente e inhibir la irrelevante
durante la ejecución de tareas dirigidas hacia un objetivo fi-
nal, son habilidades ejecutivas que permiten autorregular-
nos para adaptarnos a las demandas cambiantes del entor-
no.
El presente programa tiene como objetivos fortalecer
las FE y favorecer la autorregulación en el ámbito escolar.
Para esto, hemos desarrollado actividades específicas a
realizarse durante 12 semanas, en 24 módulos (interven-
ción directa), y ofrecemos un modelo de integración curricu-
lar para que el docente pueda planificar sus actividades dia-
rias con el objetivo de estimular las FE y favorecer la auto-
rregulación al mismo tiempo que se trabaja un contenido cu-
rricular (intervención indirecta).
De este modo, el PECE tiene como propósito no solo
fortalecer las FE mediante entrenamiento cognitivo sino
también enseñar al niño a usar efectivamente sus FE para
lograr un aprendizaje autorregulado (¿cómo aprender?) en
el ámbito escolar y facilitar el empleo efectivo de las habili-
dades ejecutivas en la vida diaria (generalización).
Debido a que el presente manual pretende favorecer
la incorporación de la estimulación de las FE a la tarea do-
cente diaria, se han ejemplificado diferentes actividades pa-
ra estimular las FE de modo que el docente pueda generar
nuevos ejercicios a partir de los aquí presentados, que se
adapten a las necesidades del momento o a aquellos cam-
pos que consideren pertinentes para la tarea educativa.
