CONDICIONALES
ESTRUCTURA:
• If you eat too much, you get fat – Si comes mucho, engordas.
• If you scare a snake, it bites you – Si asustas a una serpiente, te muerde.
ESTRUCTURA:
• If you come for the weekend, we will go to the cinema – Si vienes para el fin de
• If you park here, you will get a fine – Si parqueas aquí, te van a multar.
• If I save enough money this month, I will buy a new laptop – Si ahorro suficiente este
If + past simple, …would + infinitive.
• If I won the lottery, I would spend my life travelling – Si ganara la lotería, me pasaría la
vida viajando.
etc.
• If you didn’t live so far away, I would visit you more often – Si no vivieras tan lejos, te
visitaría más a menudo.
• If I had a bigger salary, I would buy a house – Si tuviese un salario mayor, me
imposibles. Se verá mejor con un ejemplo:
If I were younger, I would travel more – SI fuera más joven, viajaría más.
If I had her number, I would phone her right now – Si tuviese su número, la llamaría ahora
mismo.
If + past perfect, …would + have + past participle.
consecuencias. Por ejemplo:
If I had woken up earlier, I would have arrived on time – Si me hubiera levantado antes, habría
llegado a tiempo.
If I had stayed in my hometown, I would have never found my job – Si me hubiese quedado en
mi ciudad, jamás habría encontrado mi trabajo.
If I hadn’t taken the risk, I would have lost a great opportunity – Si no me hubiese arriesgado,
If + past perfect + would + infinitive
I
f you really wanted to come, you would have found the way.
If you weren’t so scared of everything, you would have enjoyed the film.

gramaticales. Veamos un ejemplo.
CONJUGACIÓN DE CAN
Grandpa could run fast when he was El abuelo podía correr muy
could
young. rápido de joven.
should You should try this pie. Debes probar este pay.
ought
I ought to leave now. Debo irme ahora.
to

STRUCTURE (ESTRUCTURA)
tiempo específicas (“this morning”, “yesterday”, “last year”…) con el presente perfecto.
“many times”, “for”, “since”, “already”, “yet”…).
Ejemplos:
INSTITUCION EDUCATIVA AGROINDUSTRIAL AREA: HUMANIDADES
Ejemplos:
I’ll have finished my studies before I start my new job.(Habré terminado mis estudios antes
de comenzar mi nuevo trabajo.)
Is Mike going to have trained enough before his first game?(¿Mike habrá entrenado lo
suficiente antes de su primer partido?)
We won’t have become fluent in Spanish by the time we leave for Mexico next month.(No
Ejemplos:
INSTITUCION EDUCATIVA AGROINDUSTRIAL AREA: HUMANIDADES
Karen is going to have worked for 50 years by the time she retires.(Karen habrá trabajado
durante 50 años cuando se jubile.)
Next week, I’ll have lived in Germany for 1 year.(La semana que viene habré vivido en
Alemania desde hace 1 año.)
REPORTED SPEECH!
Can ⇨ Could
I can’t understand Scottish people. ⇨ She said she couldn’t understand Scottish people.
I can play the piano. ⇨ He said he could play the piano.
INSTITUCION EDUCATIVA AGROINDUSTRIAL AREA: HUMANIDADES
Will ⇨ Would
I’ll take the rubbish out this evening. ⇨ He said he would take the rubbish out that evening.
I’ll love you forever. ⇨ She said she’d love me forever.
I’ll speak to the manager. ⇨ He said he would speak to the manager.
I will speak to you tomorrow.
She said she would speak to me the next/ following day.
this afternoon ⇨ that afternoon today ⇨ that day now
⇨ then/at that time tomorrow ⇨ the following/next
day last week ⇨ the week before/the previous week
next month ⇨ the following month
TALLER No. 1
A. Read the following text about the routines of a man named Mathew and then answer
the comprehension questions
My friend Mathew has a very hectic life. For starters, he has three jobs. In the morning he
works as a teacher, in the afternoon as a taxi driver and at night as a singer. Mathew wakes up
at 4 am, he takes a shower, gets dressed and goes to school. He doesn’t have time for
breakfast at home so he has breakfast at school. Mathew teaches 5th grade. He loves children
so enjoys his work.
At 12:30 Mathew always has lunch with his coworkers. Then he goes to his father’s house to
pick up his father’s taxi and begins working as a taxi driver. He is a good driver and likes talking

to passengers about politics and sports. Mathew has a rock band; at night the band plays some
music at a local bar. After singing for two hours, he goes back home, has dinner and watches a
little TV.
Mathew’s wife is pregnant; so he will quit two of his jobs soon. He wants to share a lot of time
with his family in the future.

C. Read the following text about the Human body parts and organs and then answer the
comprehension questions
It goes without saying that humans (mammals identifiable as those that stand upright and are
comparatively advanced and capable of detailed thought) have pretty remarkable bodies,
given all that they've accomplished. (Furthermore, an especially intelligent human brain
produced this text!) To be sure, humans have overcome predators, disease, and all sorts of
other obstacles over thousands of years.
To fully understand and appreciate these accomplishments, let's take at some of the most
wellknown parts of the human body!
The head, or the spherical body part that contains the brain and rests at the top of the human
body, has quite a few individual organs and body parts on it. (It should quickly be mentioned
that hair occupies the space on top of the head, and the ears, the organs responsible for
hearing, are located on either side of the head.) From top to bottom, the eyebrows, or
horizontal strips of hair that can be found above the eye, are the first components of the head.
The eyes are below them, and are round, orb-like organs that allow humans to see.
The eyes make way for the nose, or an external (sticking-out) organ that plays an important
part in the breathing and bacteria-elimination processes. Below that is the mouth, or a wide,
cavernous organ that chews food, removes bacteria, helps with breathing, and more. The
mouth contains teeth, or small, white-colored, pointed body parts used to chew food, and the
tongue, or a red-colored, boneless organ used to chew food and speak.
The neck is the long body part that connects the head to the chest (the muscular body part
that protects the heart and lungs), and the stomach, or the part of the body that contains food
and liquid-processing organs, comes below that.
The legs are the long, muscular body parts that allow humans to move from one spot to
another and perform a variety of actions. Each leg contains a thigh (a thick, especially muscular
body part used to perform strenuous motions; the upper part of the leg) and a calf (thinner,
more flexible body part that absorbs the shock associated with movement; the lower part of
INSTITUCION EDUCATIVA AGROINDUSTRIAL AREA: HUMANIDADES
the leg). Feet can be found at the bottom of legs, and each foot is comprised of five toes, or
small appendages that help balance.
Arms are long, powerful body parts that are located on either side of chest, below the
shoulders;arms are comprised of biceps (the thicker, more powerful upper portion), and
forearms (the thinner, more flexible lower portion). Hands, or small, gripping body parts used
for a tremendous number of actions, are at the end of arms. Each hand contains five fingers, or
small appendages used to grip objects.
The aforementioned shoulders are rounded body parts that aid arms' flexibility. One's back is
found on the opposite side of the stomach, and is a flat section of the body that contains
important muscles that're intended to protect the lungs and other internal organs, in addition
to helping humans perform certain motions and actions.
