Future with “Will” and “Be going to”

3. Para hacer una promesa.
4. Para hacer una predicción.
5. Se usa con expresiones improbables como: I think, I guess, I hope, Probably, Possibly, in the future.
Example:
• Probably we will live in Mars in the future.

"Be Going to": Se usa para acciones que van a suceder muy pronto o para expresar un plan que ya se
tiene. El tiempo futuro con "be going to" se usa más comúnmente en el lenguaje hablado cuando:

1. Se quiere hacer referencia al futuro inmediato, es decir, a algo que está por ocurrir.
2. hacer una predicción a futuro, siempre que esté basado en hechos concretos o evidencias.

Examples:

• She is going to pay with a credit card = Ella va a pagar con una tarjeta de crédito (algo que está
por ocurrir).

• I am going to drop off my prescription over there = Voy a dejar mi prescripción médica allá.

GRAMMAR

Se forma con el verbo"be" conjugado para la persona correspondiente, seguido de "going to" y el verbo
base.

Subject + be + going to+ verb Translation

I am going to pay Yo voy a pagar
You are going to pay Tú vas a pagar.
He is going to pay Él va a pagar.
She is going to pay Ella va a pagar
It is going to pay Esto va a pagar

• I need to get my medicine. I will go to the pharmacy tonight.

Necesito comprar mi medicina. Iré a la farmacia esta noche.

• I need some cash. I will pay with my debit card and ask for cash back.

También es usado para decir predicciones de carácter general:

Examples:

• I’m sure it will rain tomorrow. Estoy seguro de que lloverá mañana.
• Rosa Bartra won’t win the elections. Rosa Bartra no ganará las elecciones.

Reading #01
SHOPPING ON THE INTERNET
Every evening I sit down at the computer and I say “What are we going to have for dinner tonight?”
You see, my family does some of its shopping on the Internet since the big supermarkets started on
line. My little daughter doesn’t like it. She prefers to go to the supermarket with me and buy some
chocolate. She doesn’t eat any of it in the car on the way home every time we go. But much people
like Internet shopping and our dog loves it. You see, we click on “Food dog” when we want a little dog
food, but we also tick the supermarket’s box that says: “Can we send you the other product if your
product is not there?” So, the supermarket sends top quality food when our dog food is not there. But
there are problems with Internet shopping: It costs $5 every time your shopping is bought on the
Internet. Too, the first time you shop on the Internet, you have to look at a list of every product the
supermarket has. But after the first time you don´t have to do that.
What do the supermarkets think of Internet shopping? Some supermarkets can’t take any more
customers online. “We can’t take any new people for Internet shopping” Say Britain´s biggest
supermarkets. Their problem is this: How do they get all that food to the customers? The
supermarkets are giving the customer a time when they will bring the Internet shopping to the
customer’s home. The customers have to be at home at that time. “All your customers want their
Internet shopping brought to their home at the weekend or in the early morning”, say the
supermarkets. That’s the problem!
