Putting the PTPA (Peruvian Trade Promotion Agreement) into practice has taught us the
importance of social values when dealing with trade agreement negotiations. The labor-
trade relationship, which until a few years ago resembled that of vinegar and water, is no
longer left aside since it's one of the focal issues when it comes to free trade agreements in
the world.
The Bipartisan Agreement of 2007 -imposed by the Democrats in order for the Bush
Administration to approve the PTPA- seems to have become the way forward for the
following years.
The Republican's only concern was for US trading partners to oblige to their own labor laws
and that they have a special and ex ante conflict resolution mechanism (rarely active) which
was found insufficient to their Democrat counterparts. Nevertheless, the Democratic
Party's demands crystallized in the PTPA in two levels: substantial and procedural.
Regarding obligations, not only Peru has to oblige to national legislation, but it has to fully
comply and respect the 1998 ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at
Work. From a procedural point of view, any failure to execute the labor chapter could
activate the general conflict resolution mechanism installed in the PTAP.

EDITORIAL
Having said this, we cannot rest on our laurels. In the first place, Peru's
Economic Stimulus Package has helped both to inject liquidity into the
system and cut exporters' losses -for instance, by increasing the
drawback they receive from 5 % to 8%- but it has also shown the regional
and central governments' lack of capacity (especially regarding
infrastructural works, and to a lesser extent, social protection programs).
The crisis has not been the cause of this problem, but is has clearly
proven the State's and other government institutions' main weakness.
Therefore, if both public expenditure and the Government's ability to
implement were to be more effective, we could reach a stable recovery
at a much faster pace by 2010.

(incluido el Webster, a rendering from one language into another), y una lengua
equivalente a a, b a 1, etc.
dice God is our daddy, sino God is our Father) e incluso pére no es siempre

James:
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was
without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the
Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be
light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God
divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the
darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first
day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and
let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and
divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which
were above the firmament. And it was so.
surface? ¿Por qué el abismo
debería tener una superficie y
una cara como la luna? A lo
sumo podía entender que that it
In the God that began created the sky and the Earth and the Earth was
without form, and emptiness; and the dark was on the face of the deep
one. And the alcohol of the God moved on the face of waters. There and
the God said, let be light: and there was light. And the God saw the light, that
that was good: and the God divided the light of the dark. And the God
called the slight day, and the dark that it called to Night. And afternoon and
the morning was the first day. And the God said, there it let be firmament in
means of waters, and let it divide it waters of waters. And the God did
firmament, and divided the waters that were under firmament of the waters
that were on firmament. And it was so.
waters of waters.
conjuga Ich stelle her o Ich stellte her, por alguna regla sintáctica que posee
acaba con Himmel y coloca her demasiado tarde.
In the God, which began, placed the sky and the mass and the mass was
without form and emptiness ago; and the darkness was on the face of the
deep. And the white spirits of the God shifted on the face of the water.
There and the God said, leaving you, to be light: and there was light. And
the God saw the light, which, which was good: and the God divided the
light of the darkness. And the God designated the slight day and the
darkness, which designated it to the night. And afternoon and the morning
were the first day and the God said, there let it in the means of the water be
firmament, and it left it divides waessert from the water. And the God did
firmament and divided the water, which firmament under the water was,
which were on firmament. And it was like that.

I would like to apply for the post of a Company Commercial Solicitor in your firm as advertised on
the website www.legalpositions.com. As a recent law-school graduate, I was particularly happy to
see that the positions you are offering is open to newly qualified lawyers.
You will see from the enclosed CV that I competed my law studies in Rome with honours, and spent
one year studying law in Edinburgh. I am especially interested in the position you are offering, since
I have relevant work experience in the field of insolvency. I spend three summers working as a clerk
in a mid-sized commercial law firm in Manchester. While assisting with the insolvency work
carried out there, I developed an interest in becoming an insolvency practitioner. In addition, I am a
student member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association in the UK, and two articles I wrote in
English were published in their newsletter. I may also add that I achieved a high score on the
International Legal English Certificate Examination.
I would welcome the opportunity to work as part of your successful team, to benefit from your
extensive experience, and to put my training, experience and enthusiasm into practice for your firms.

We became hyper conscious – to the extent of being almost paranoid - of it! When
we first became aware of TripAdvisor a couple of years back, we immediately
identified it as a tool that had tremendous potential for us to get the message and the
ethos of our property out into a Marketplace that we otherwise had no hope of
reaching. We made all of the great people working with us aware if it, and explained
to them that this was an opportunity that we felt would have very tangible and
positive long term benefits for the Killeen House.
We have always operated our business on the basis of treating our Guests firstly as
individuals to be welcomed and looked after in a personal and individual way, and
secondly as new friends, who we want to show a great time to while they’re visiting
with us. And anyone glancing through the reviews we have garnered on TripAdvisor
will be clearly struck by the big number of them that specifically mention the
PEOPLE rather than the PLACE. Its not within our power to make the bedrooms
bigger, or to order up 80 degrees of sunshine, but it is very certainly within our
power to ensure that all of our Guests receive a uniquely warm and Irish welcome
from all of us here in the Killeen House…..
How are you encouraging guests at your hotel to talk about their stay online –
and share their experience with others?
Given that we are a small operation, we have ample opportunity here in the Killeen
House to meet most of our guests on a personal level, If we find our for example that
they have heard of us via TripAdvisor, than that is a natural opportunity for us to ask
them to keep on spreading the word!
Thankfully, we frequently receive notes and e-mails from our Guests after they have
departed, telling us how much they have enjoyed their stay with us. Again, a great
opportunity to ask them to post a TripAdvior review of their experience. We have
found that after the initial first number of reviews, that it almost becomes a self-
perpetuating thing
In the past, which marketing tactics have performed best for you? Which ones
don’t quite live up to the hype?
Prior to the explosion of TripAdvisor onto the scene, we always had a Guestbook on
our site for past guests to post comments on. We always found it was well received
and that it definitely influenced a potential guest’s decision making process.
Realising that 2009 was going to be a pretty tough year, at the start of the season we
made a conscious decision to increase our presence on a number of third party
distributor’s sites. This has worked very well for us, with the month of July showing
a 220 percent increase over July of last year.
What has been your biggest obstacle in designing or launching your online
marketing campaign? How did you overcome it?
In an operation the size of ours, cost is invariably the single biggest issue for us to
address. Also, given that all the work is done in-house, allocation of time is also an
issue. Given the choice of sitting in front of a computer devising online strategies, or
sitting with a guest enhancing their vacation experience, well, the guest will always
win out here in the Killeen House!
Do you have any favorite marketing resources you would like to share with our
readers?
Industry (mainly those who don’t currently fare very well on it!) tend to be a bit
dismissive of its power, or even cynical about some of its content.
The bottom line is that no system known to man is tamper-proof, but TripAdvisor
has over 25 MILLION reviews posted on its site. If for example 10 percent of them
are in some way ‘questionable’ this still means that well north of 20 million of them
are the unbiased opinions of the people that count most to us all – our potential
customers
What’s the most exciting trend you see in hotel marketing? Why?
While we’re not keyed in enough to specifically identify any individual trends, we
are savvy enough to appreciate that online marketing is of vital importance to any
hotel, anywhere in the World today. It is imperative for us to stay abreast of
developments and to try and positively maximize our online presence and profile.
We use it to convey the type of property we are. Rate parity across the various
channels is also very important, as it indicates the professionalism and integrity of
the operation and it’s operators. Proper and frequent (without being overly frequent!)
communication is also very important, and we think, appreciated by both past and
potential future guests.

ACTIVIDADES PROPUESTAS
Michael Swan, Practical English Usage (Oxford University Press, 1996), y ,
Incluye asimismo palabras poco frecuentes y numerosos americanismos y
referencias culturales estadounidenses (“Algonkian”, “Dixiecrat”, “Mason-
Dixon line”).

meta no siempre
puede llevarse a cabo
en términos absolutos.
No podemos olvidar
armamentos.

TEXTO 1
How do you grab people's attention, arouse their interest, trigger their desire, and
motivate them to take action? Answer that four-part question correctly and you've
identified the secret to achieving tremendous sales and marketing success in your
business or profession. To complicate matters, however, the potential answers are as
numerous and multi-faceted as the growing number of niche markets, products and
services, and evolving marketing strategies and trends in our culture.
While not all inclusive, the following list of marketing strategies, marketing tools,
and free marketing ideas can help establish a marketing framework that can put your
small business on a faster track to growth. If you need more information on a
particular business marketing topic, there are opportunities throughout this page to
purchase and download relevant digital books from eBooks.com. (Note: Ten
additional marketing strategies have recently been added to this page. Take a look.)
Marketing Tip #2: Penetrate awareness of your target audience by using integrated
marketing strategy, which in many cases would include a well-planned website
marketing strategy. Stated simply: the more ways the public hears about you, the
better your chances are for achieving brand recognition, credibility, and greater
market share. Effective marketing strategy is partly the result of exposing your target
audience to your name and your selling points (unique selling proposition) as often
as possible (frequency), in as many ways as possible, and as cost-effectively as
possible

TEXTO 1
Unfortunately it happens. You plan, you research, you launch and the
campaign fails. What could you have missed? What do you do now?
The first thing you want to do is step back. Breathe. Yes, breathe. The
worst thing you could do at this point is think you are the only one this
has happened to. You're not.
You are probably questioning whether you have the knowledge to work in
marketing. You are overwhelmed with disappointment. This is why I want
you to just take a step back and put yourself in the shoes of your target
market.
When you take a step back and detach yourself from the campaign to
look at it as the audience rather than the developer it's a little easier to
see the flaws. It's best to do this before the campaign launches, but let's
face it we all make mistakes and it's better to look at it now and learn
from it rather than not look at it at all. Evaluate and re-evaluate. When
you feel confident that you've found the reason the campaign failed then
you are ready to begin again carrying out the components that you
possibly missed the first time. Test it before full execution; this is key.
