Ej: 8:20- It’s twenty past eight.

O´clock = en punto

It’s 5 minutes to five = Faltan cinco para las cinco

Around 8 o’clock at night = Alrededor de las ocho de la noche
At 9:30 sharp = A las nueve y media en punto
A little after 11 o’clock = A las once y pico

A.M Y P.M

Se usa 'a.m. ' y ' p.m. en un lenguaje más formal y normalmente escrito.

Cuando escribamos la hora en inglés hay que recordar señalar si se trata de la mañana, de la tarde o
de la noche) cuando pueda haber confusión, esto se hace añadiendo a.m. o p.m. al final.

 a.m. (ante meridiem) cuando la hora es anterior a las doce del mediodía (midday).
 p.m. (post meridiem) cuando la hora es posterior al mediodía y anterior a la medianoche (midnight).

The meeting is at 7:00 p.m. (la reunión es a las 7:00 p.m.)

Es más normal decir: 'In the morning', 'In the afternoon', 'In the evening', 'At night'

 In the morning, desde el amanecer hasta las 12 del mediodía.

 In the afternoon, desde las 12 del mediodía hasta las 6 de la tarde.
 In the evening, desde las 6 de la tarde hasta las 9 de la noche.
 At night, desde las 9 de la noche hasta el amanecer.

7 :00 am. = It’s seven o'clock in the morning.

5:00 pm = It’s five o’clock in the afternoon
6:00 pm = It’s six o’clock in the evening * ( *evening, es el periodo de tiempo comprendido entre
las 6 pm y las 9 pm, no existe una equivalencia en español para nombrar a ese periodo
de tiempo, asi que usualmente se traduce evening como “noche”)

11:00 pm. = It’s eleven o'clock at night

9:10 a.m. = It’s ten past nine in the morning
3:45 p.m. = It’s quarter to four in the afternoon
8: 20 p.m. = It’s twenty past eight in the evening
2: 50 a.m. = It’s ten to three at night
