Los arawacos en Venezuela:

Constituyen el grupo indígena más numeroso y extendido principalmente en el área

amazónica del país, abarcando los estados Amazona y Bolívar.

Son familias que a su vez comprenden un gran número de etnias más pequeñas y
autónomas entre si que se instalaron no solo en Venezuela sino en toda Latinoamérica.

El termino Arawuacos no puede ser confundido con los arhuacos, puestos pertenecen a
un grupo indígena colombiana.

Este grupo de indígenas está conformado por treinta y un tribus de origen mongoloide,
por lo que tienen ligeros rasgos asiáticos en sus ojos. Vivieron principalmente de la
pesca y la recolección de moluscos así como también practicaron el cultivo de maíz y
yuca. Los arawacos desarrollaron la técnica del tejido, mediante la cual fabricaron
hamacas, redes y cestas. Con el barro elaboraron vasijas.

they have slight Asian features in their eyes. They lived mainly from fishing and
collecting mollusks, as well as the cultivation of corn and cassava. The Arawaks
developed the technique of weaving, by which they made hammocks, nets and baskets.
