Abstract— Urban Metabolism is a concept for modeling urban systems’ flows (like
water, energy, food, or people) as if the city were a complete ecosystem. It can be used to
analyze how urban areas use natural resources and the underlying infrastructures, and
the relationship between human activities and the environment. It also can be used to
turn the urban environment into a more sustainable way.
Key Words — Metabolism, Urban, Natural Resources, Flow, Recycle, Waste.
