Usos:
Situaciones permanentes.

Programaciones y horarios

Forma:
- Afirmativa: He runs every day. I run everyday
- Negativa: He doesnt run everyday. I dont run everyday
- Interrogativa: Does he run everyday? Do you run every day?
- Interrogativa con adverbio de frecuencia: Does he always run? Do you always run?
Se usa para hablar de logros o cosas que estn planeadas para hacer en el
futuro, excepto con los stative verbs
Im seeing the accountants at 12:00
Ver a los contables a las 12:00
Forma:
* Afirmativa. He is listening to music.
* Negativa. He isnt listening to music
* Interrogativa. Is he listening to music?
PASADO
SIMPLE PAST
Usos:
Acciones completadas en el pasado
The mayor closed the street market yesterday.
El alcalde cerr el mercadillo ayer
Forma:
- Afirmativa: He walked alone in the night.
- Negativa: He didnt walk alone in the night,
- Interrogativa: Did he walk alone in the night?
On: Para das determinados. 16th May, Saturday, New Years Day
He made his party on saturday
In: Para meses, aos, dcadas y estaciones. May, 1895, the 1990s, spring

Para hablar de una accin que estaba en progreso en el pasado cuando otra la
interrumpi.
Teacher was explaining us the lesson when the director called her
La profesora estaba explicandonos la leccin cuando el director la llam.
Con clusulas temporales del estilo when the phone rang que requieren una
secuencia temporal
When the phone rang, I answered it
Cuando el telfono son, lo contest
Formas:
- Afirmativa: I was watching tv when the phone rang
- Negativa: I wasnt watching tv when the phone rang
- Interrogativa: Were you watching tv when the phone rang?
PRESENT PERFECT
Usos:
Hablando de una accin presente que es resultado de algo que ha ocurrido un
tiempo indeterminado atrs
Im cleaning my t-shirt because he has spilled his coffee on it
Tanto for como since se usan con stative verbs para hablar de cosas que
han comenzado en el pasado pero siguen ocurriendo en el presente
I have known the results of the test for weeks.
He sabido los resultados del test durante semanas
Forma:
Afirmativa: We have invented a new product
Negativa: We havent invented a new product
Interrogativa: Have you invented a new product?
Con partculas: Have you ever invented a new product?
Para referirse a hechos evidentes que han ocurrido, pero han acabado.
The ground is wet. It has been raining.
La hierba est mojada. Ha estado lloviendo
PAST PERFECT
Usos:
Para referirse a acciones pasadas completas que ocurrieron antes que otras,
pasadas tambin.
When I arrived at the office, the meeting had started
Cuando llegu a la oficina, la reunin haba empezado
Con stative verbs aunque el caso sea de uso de past perfect continuous.
Verbos como know, like o guess.
When they met again, they had not seen each other for 15 years
Cuando la encontr otra vez, no la haba visto en 15 aos
Formas:
Afirmativa: I had worked for Mr Newman
Negativa: I hadt worked for Mr Newman
Interrogativa: Had you worked for Mr Newman?
Forma:
Afirmativa: It had been raining for weeks
Negativa: It hadnt been raining for weeks
Interrogativa: Had it been raining for weeks?
FUTURE
FUTURE SIMPLE
Usos:
Se usa cuando se toman decisiones espontneas.
Ill run! The Thief is escaping
Correr! El ladrn est escapando
Para hacer predicciones y para de actos que se cree que sern ciertos en un
futuro
(Passing a entrance examination) Ill go to the University
(Aprobando la selectividad) Ir a la Universidad
Para hablar de hechos condicionales, con las partculas if, when, befote, as
soon as, after, etc.
If you study, youll pass the exam
Si estudias, aprobars el examen
Para pedir a alguien que haga algo (peticiones, promesas, amenazas, ofrecer
ayuda)
Will you give me a hand with these boxes?
Puedes echarme una mano con estas cajas?
Forma:
Afirmativa: I will phone you as soon as I arrive home
Negativa: I wont receive my salary next week
Interrogativa: Will you give me this paper?
BE GOING TO
Se usa para hablar de decisiones o cosas que tenemos intencin de hacer
Our company is going to open this week
Nuestra compaa abrir esta semana
Para hacer predicciones con una evidencia fsica cierta de que algo ocurrir
There are lots of clouds. Its going to rain
Hay muchas nubes. Va a llover
WAS GOING TO
Para hablar de planes o intenciones que han cambiado
I was going to see Mr Smith, but now I decided to go bed early
Iba a ir a ver a Mr Smith, pero ahora he decidido ir a la cama temprano
WILL BE DOING
Se usa para hablar de una accin que estar en progreso en un momento
concreto del futuro:
I will be staying in class when you could phone me
Estar en clase cuando puedas llamarme

I expect that I doubt if
The chances are that I doubt very much whether

MODAL VERBS
Para expresar probabilidad o incertidumbre pueden usarse los verbos
modales might, may o could+ un tiempo verbal
I might have been watching TV or I could have been having a drink. I really dont remember
Puede que haya estando viendo la tele o pude haber estado tomando algo. No me acuerdo bien.
PASSIVE
Usos:
Para centrar la atencin en los hechos y no en quien los realiza
Over 40% of Spain are become dessert
Alrededor del 40% de Espaa se esta convirtiendo en desierto
Sujeto impersonal it +is + participio pasado del verbo principal + that + oracin
Many people think that fast food is bad for your health( Is is tought that fast food is bad for
your health
Mucha gente piensa que la comida rpida es mala para tu salud ( Se piensa que la comida rpida
es mala para tu salud
Forma:
If+frase en presente (condicin)+ frase en presente (consecuencia)
If + interest rates fall +company profits rise
Si los tipos de inters caen, los beneficios de la compaa aumentarn
PRIMER CONDICIONAL
Usos:
Se utilizan este tipo de oraciones condicionales para hablar de las futuras
consecuencias posibles que puede tener una accion o situacin.
My parents will be happy if I pass my exams
Mis padres estarn contentos si apruebo los exmenes
Forma:
If /When + frase en presente (condicin) + frase con will/wont+infinitivo
(consecuencia)
Ill give you a ring + when + I arrive Ill give you a ring + if + I find a phone
Te dare un toque cuando llegue Te dar un toque si encuentro un telfono
Variaciones:
En una frase con if se puede usar el imperativo o verbos modales en vez de
will/wont+ infinitivo para reflejar la consecuencia:
If you hear from Susan today, tell her to ring me
Si tienes noticias de Susan hoy, dile que me llame
Forma:
If + frase en pasado (condicin)+ frase con would/wouldnt +infinitivo
(consecuencia)
If + I knew his number + I would send him a message
Si supiese su nmero, le mandara un mensaje
Variaciones:
Es posible usar might y could en lugar de would
If we had the finance, we could expand much more rapidly
Si tuvisemos los fondos, nos podramos expandir mucho ms rpidamente
En frases con if, puede usarse were en lugar de was. Se usa sobre todo
cuando se da un consejo:
If I were you, I wouldnt go with him
Si fuese t, no ira con l
TERCER CONDICIONAL
Usos:
En este tipo de oraciones, tanto la condicion como la consecuencia se refieren
al pasado.
Forma:
If+ frase en pretrito pluscuamperfecto (condicin) + would/wouldnt + have+
participio pasado (consecuencia)
If + the interview hadnt gone well, they wouldnt have given me the job
Si la entrevista no hubiera ido bien, no me habran dado el trabajo
Variaciones:
Podemos usar could o might en lugar de would:
If you had followed my advice, you could earn more morey
Si sigues mi consejo, puedes ganar mucho dinero
CONDICIONALES MIXTOS
Usos:
Las condiciones se refieren a un periodo de tiempo diferente al de la
consecuencia.
We wouldnt go to Paris on holiday this year if we had gone there last year
No ira a Pars de vacaicones este ao si hubiese ido el ao pasado
UNLESS.
Se refiere a la parte condicional que no es el resultado de la misma. Su
traduccin es si no/a no ser que
Well go to the beach next weekend if the weather isnt bad
Iremos a la playa el fin de semana que viene si el tiempo no es malo
Well go to the beach next weekend unless the weather is bad
Iremos a la playa el fin de semana a no ser que el tiempo sea malo
IN CASE
Se usa in case para hablar de precauciones que tomaremos antes de que
ocurra un problema. Usaremos if despus de que el problema ocurra:
Were going to insure the shipment in case the goods get damaged in transit
Vamos a asegurar el envo por si los productos se daasen en el viaje
If the goods get damaged in transit, well make a claim
Si los productos se daan en el transporte, podremos una queja
SO THAT
La usaremos para explicar el resultado de una accin que ocurir:
Ill take a Credit card so that we dont run out of money
He cogido la tarjeta de crdito, as que no me quedar sin dinero
I WISH O IF ONLY
Se usan con pasado simple para hablar de situaciones presentes que nos
gustara que fuesen diferentes:
I havent got a computer. If only I had one, I could use the Internet
No tengo ordenador. Si tuviese uno, podra usar internet
Referirnos a acciones que nos gustara que ocurriesen pero son poco probables
I wish my parents would buy me a new mobile phone
Deseara que mis padres me comprasen un nuevo movil
