of architecture to witness the invention of a typology.
Just think, for example, of how little the house typology has
changed down to the present day. It is no coincidence that,
"astronauts like to come home..."
Este proyecto es resultado de un concurso convocado para cons-
truir un crematorio en un cementerio existente, obra de Bernardo
Sechi. La historia de la arquitectura pocas veces tiene la opor-
tunidad de asistir a la invencin de una tipologa.
Pensemos por ejemplo en lo poco que han variado las tipologas
de casa hasta hoy; no es casualidad que "a los astronautas les
guste regresar a casa..."
Construir un crematorio no es construir una mquina de incinerar
Building a crematorium does not mean building an inciner-
ation machine or a church; nor does it mean building a meet-
ing hall or a caf. Yet while it is none of that, it has to be
able to adapt to each one of those uses.
Designing a crematorium was a unique chance to invent a
typology that will be fundamental for our future, the way we
will go on living, in the knowledge of how we are going to
end up after we have lived like that.

Disear un crematorio fue una oportunidad nica para poder
inventar una tipologa que ser fundamental para nuestro futuro:
cmo vamos a continuar viviendo, saber cmo acabamos des-
pus de haber vivido as.
