 RELIGIÓN DE BOLIVIA

• Tras la promulgación de la Nueva Constitución Política

del Estado en marzo de 2009, Bolivia pasó a ser un
Estado aconfesional o laico. Bajo el artículo n.º 4,
garantiza con privilegio a todas las creencias y dogmas
religiosas.
• Hay 280 organizaciones religiosas no católicas y más
de 200 grupos católicos registrados por el gobierno.

CATOLISISMO
Existe libertad de culto, siendo la religión católica la religión
mayoritaria y de mayor influencia en el país de Bolivia.
La Iglesia católica tiene en Bolivia cuatro Arquidiócesis, siete
Diócesis, dos Prelaturas y cinco Vicariatos Apostólicos.
Bolivia tiene como patrona a la Virgen del Carmen y su fiesta es el
16 de julio.
 Religiones nativas

• Las religiones de los pueblos originarios, por lo general

son religiones panteístas y holísticas cuyas formas de ver
o racionalidad de las nociones o conceptos del tiempo-
espacio (Cosmovisión andina) son totalmente diferentes
a las religiones monoteístas de origen judeocristiano,
traídas por los conquistadores españoles y luego, por
otros grupos migratorios de Europa, quienes impusieron
la religión católica a los nativos de América.

 Iglesia católica
• Esta se ha debilitado en algunas poblaciones indígenas rurales de occidente
debido a que no cuenta con recursos económicos suficientes para
expandirse. De este modo, los esfuerzos por reemplazar las tradiciones
espirituales indígenas con prácticas católicas han resultado infructuosos.
En muchas de estas poblaciones, las iglesias cristianas protestantes han
ganado terreno sobre el catolicismo. Por su parte, los pueblos indígenas del
oriente como los Chiquitos y los Moxos mantienen fuertes vínculos con el
catolicismo producto del mestizaje cultural heredado de las
misiones jesuíticas del siglo XVII.

 Religion in the United States
• It is diverse, with Christianity being the majority religion and
Protestantism, although this majority has been declining to varying
degrees. Various religious faiths have flourished within the
United States. In 2020 survey, about 65% of Americans report that
religion plays an important or very important role in their lives, 43%
report attending religious services at least monthly, 61% report praying
weekly or more and 90% believe in God proportions which are unique
among developed countries.
 HISTORY

• Ever since its early colonial days when some Protestant

dissenter English and German settlers moved in search of
religious freedom, America has been profoundly influenced by
religion. That influence continues in American culture, social
life, and politics. Several of the original Thirteen Colonies
were established by settlers who wished to practice their own
religion within a community of like-minded people

• The United States federal government was the

first national government to have no official
state-endorsed religion. However, some states
had established religions in some form until the
1830s.
 CHRISTIANITY

• The most popular religion in the U.S. is Christianity,

comprising the majority of the population (73.7% of
adults in 2016), with the majority of American
Christians belonging to a Protestant denomination or a
Protestant offshoot (such as Mormonism or the
Jehovah's Witnesses.)
 According to National Council of Churches,
the five largest denominations are:

• The Southern Baptist Convention, 16,136,044 members
• The United Methodist Church, 7,679,850 members
• The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6,157,238 members
