TELEVISION EN BOLIVIA - ANTECEDENTES

Hablar de la televisión en Bolivia es hablar de la creación del

canal estatal y así lo determina claramente el Decreto Ley de
22 de diciembre de 1965 que dice: “Qué el grado de
desarrollo cultural y educativo en que se encuentra el país,
hace necesario, oportuno y aconsejable incorporar el Servicio
de Televisión a la vida activa de la nación”.
Bajo esos lineamientos generales es que en el gobierno del
general Barrientos se crea la ”empresa de radio y televisión
Boliviana (RTB) como entidad autárquica de derecho público
y personería jurídica propia” . Cuya característica principal es
la fusión de la radio y la televisión estatales.

En la mencionada época las personas que tenían un televisor
solamente lograban captar imágenes en blanco y negro. Los
despachos internacionales eran recibidos a través de teletipo
mediante la agencia de noticias DPA, pero el mismo no era
inmediato y las noticias eran conocidas por los bolivianos dos
días después de que los hechos sucedían en el mundo.
Durante la década de los años setenta Televisión Boliviana
comenzó con la producción propia para ser difundida al resto del
país. En esa misma década nació el programa "Enfoques",
dirigido y producido por el comunicador Mario "Cucho" Vargas.
En este programa se realizaron presentaciones de artistas
nacionales e internacionales. A la llegada de la década de los
ochenta Televisión Boliviana se convierte en ENTB (Empresa
Nación de Televisión Boliviana).
