The auditor should plan and perform an audit with an attitude of professional
skepticism recognizing that there may be circumstances that cause the financial
statements to be misrepresented in a form of relative importance
Reasonable assurance
An auditor cannot obtain absolute security because there are inherent limitations in
an audit that affect the auditor's ability to detect misrepresentations of relative
importance:
conclusiva.
The inherent limitations of internal control (for example, the possibility that the
administration exceeds control or collusion).
-The fact that most of the audit evidence is persuasive rather than conclusive.
The work undertaken by the auditor to form an audit opinion is impregnated with
judgment:
a) The compilation of audit evidence (Ex: the nature, timing and extent of audit
procedures).
b) The conclusions extraction based on evidence.
Riesgo de auditoría e importancia relativa
“Audit risk” means the risk of the auditor giving an inappropriate audit opinion when the
financial statements are erroneously prepared in a form of relative importance or in an
important manner. The audit risk has three components: inherent risk, control risk and
detection risk.
“Control risk” is the risk that an erroneous representation that could occur in the
account balance or class of transactions and that could be of relative importance
individually or when added with erroneous representations in other balances or
classes, is not prevented or detected and corrected with opportunity by the
accounting and internal control systems.
"Detection risk" is the risk that the substantive procedures of an auditor do not detect an
erroneous representation that exists in a balance of an account or class of transactions that
could be of relative importance, individually or when added with erroneous
representations in others balances or classes.
Responsabilidad por los estados financieros
The responsibility for preparing and presenting them, in accordance with the
applicable financial reporting framework, is the administration of the entity, with
supervision of those responsible for corporate governance.
The auditor should determine whether the financial reporting framework adopted by
management in preparing the Financial Statements is acceptable in view of the nature of the
entity (for example, whether it is a business enterprise, a public sector entity or an
organization non-profit) and the objective of the financial statements.
Ejemplos:
In some cases, the purpose of the financial statements will be to meet the financial
information needs of specific users. Examples:
Tax-based accounting for a set of financial statements that accompany the tax return of an
entity (What is prepared is a tax reconciliation).
The financial information provisions of a government regulatory agency for a set of financial
statements
