Introduction
This past decades, humanity witnessed an exponential growth in plastic use and
industrial waste. This problem has plagued every corner of society and schools are not
wastes into their respected bins is one of them. Cleanliness is part of the students'
hygiene, being unable to do so may cause illness that range from a normal to a severe
disease if left unattended. This research aims to let people be aware of their
surroundings, as the wastes allocated each day in the school does not plan to decrease
eventually. It also aims to survey students from 11-C how they prevent the growth of
wastes, being aware of their surroundings and their practices for reducing wastes in the
school.
Proper waste segregation mirrors the moral value and discipline of the students in a
school. This research will identify and analyze the awareness of grade 11 STEM
The researchers will utilize several ways to tackle this problem including conducting
a survey to gauge the knowledge of the populace, studying the amount of waste
produced will also help further the research as it would show the necessary amount of
effort and material, more importantly, researching productive and effective ways to
Theoretical Framework
revealed that students have sufficient knowledge in terms of definition of solid waste,
effect of improper solid waste disposal, solid waste prohibited activities, school
initiatives towards solid waste, importance of solid waste management and students’
responsibilities. However, students have low knowledge on the different laws relevant to
Contrary to the earlier study shown, Atlantis press showed that the student waste
management’s knowledge was still low, because they had never been taught in the
school curriculum.
A similar research journal by Gonca Harman states that the students were
segregating waste at the source according to type, and throwing trash into an

Assumption/hypothesis
They were particularly concerned about the potential health risks that improper waste
management procedures can cause. Grade 11- STEM are more likely to catch illness if
proper waste management practices are disregarded. If this is not addressed quickly
and efficiently, serious health issues may emerge. As a result, proper waste
management measures must be learned to ensure the safety and well-being of the
The study hypothesizes that: effective waste management contain positive and negative
effect. The negative effect of improper waste management if the student does not aware
in waste management it can lead to health hazard, pollution, and lack of cleanliness in
the school environment that can affect students’ well-being and learning experiences.
On the contrary the positive effect might imply promoting environment awareness and

stem. The study was confined to grade 11 stem at Eastern Star Academy. Other section
and levels is not included since the researchers only covers the grade 11 stem. The
reusing, recycling and composting are good options for managing school waste. Grade
11 teachers, need to find ways to get rid of school waste with the least negative effects
on the environment. Incinerating and building waste pits on the school grounds can only
be done by schools with no other option. Also parents of grade 11 Stem need to
cooperate with the student and teachers to teach their children on how to maintain
cleanliness in their own house and school. They need to discipline their kids and explain
to them on how to be responsible. For Preventing waste build ups, with more waste on
waste management provider can schedule regular pickups to keep your school clear of
rubbish. Better waste separation, schools produce a wide range of waste types from
food waste, general waste, packaging, metals, plastics, sanitary waste, covid testing
waste, and more. Separating waste correctly is key to improving recycling and waste
result of the study is by having an effective waste management strategy, you’ll show
them how to reduce their waste production, how to keep areas clean, and how to
This study is significant for the benefits offered to the following groups:
Students: This study will help students be aware of the issues concerning the
school’s environment that they would be sure to encounter. With the help of this
research, students will be able to gather information about the exercises of following
Parents/Guardians: This study will help them know if their child is being aware of
their surroundings and taking care of the environment inside the school. This will give
them the opportunity to guide their children to be sensible not only in the campus, but
Teachers: With the help of this study, teachers will be able to determine if the 11-
C students are responsible enough to take care of themselves inside the classroom,
