Years ago, the United States had laws enforcing racial segregation, keeping black and white people
apart. Rosa Parks, an African American woman, challenged these unjust laws when she refused to
give up her bus seat to a white man. Arrested for her act of civil disobedience, Rosa's protest gained
attention, sparking a movement for fairer laws. This courageous stand led to the gradual dismantling
of segregation laws in the United States, ensuring equal rights for black individuals on buses and in
public facilities.

Ivory, sourced from elephant tusks, is highly prized due to its scarcity. The limited
elephant population worldwide intensifies its value, with recent laws aiming to thwart
illegal killings for ivory. Historically, legal ivory trade flourished from the seventeenth
to the twentieth century, fueled by the demand for piano keys and intricate art
objects in Europe. Presently, the illegal killing of elephants for ivory persists as a
lucrative activity.

December 1, 1955. This act sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, leading to the
desegregation of public transportation.
