SDS requirement IE-0931.

The radio chassis may reach 120ºC. However, it is considered that the radio chassis are covered by
the vehicle panel, which protects against direct contact with the surface. Therefore, a deviation
request from the SDS will not be made.

10.16.3 Radio Temperature

The radio has the following protection strategies under high temperatures described in the SDS
requirements IE-0899 and IE-0242:
- In CD mode, the radio changes to Tuner mode if the temperature exceeds the CD mechanism
temperature operation. A message is shown on radio display;
- Thermo shutdown strategy if the temperature exceeds the power regulator temperature operation,
being necessary user interaction to reinitialize the radio.

Ford and Visteon agreed that the temperature tests for the radio approval will be conducted according to
the test conditions described below, instead of DVM’s of the SDS. These test conditions intend to
represent a situation of customer normal usage.

Environment:
Radio installed in vehicle;
Environment temperature outside of the car 20 º ~ 25º;
Vehicle engine running;
Vehicle windows: open.

Radio Set up:

Radio playing a CD with Pink Noise 0dB;
Bass = 0;

12.6 Compact Disc Anti-Skip Requirements

12.6.1 Compact Disc Anti-Skip Performance Triangle Burst Test

According to requirement IE-0231 of SDS Audio V.29 and the test described below:

Purpose:

This test is designed to verify that the CD mechanism is able to play music while being exposed to
transient vibration input as occurs during vehicle operation. The CD mechanism must play the specified
test disc and track without audible degradation of the music while this test is being performed. For DV/PV
testing, the exact skip threshold acceleration shall be measured and included in DVP&R.

Test Pass Criteria:

No audible skips, ticks, pops, etc. are allowed while the test is being conducted. After testing is complete
the disc(s) and magazine shall be inspected. No scratches, mars, or damage of any type is allowed to
the disc(s), magazine, or unit. Any deviations to the 35 m/s2 screening must be approved, in writing, by
Ford responsible for said product.

Test Description:

The test consists of a series of unique transient acceleration bursts. Each burst consists of 7 cycles of a
triangle waveform. Each of the 7 cycles in a specific burst have the same frequency. The amplitude of
cycles 1 to 7 of each burst are weighted, respectively, at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 75%, 50% 25% of the
specified test amplitude. The waveform of a single burst is shown below:

INNOVATION FORD RADIO SRD V1.6.DOC

Page 94 of 109
VISTEON CONFIDENTIAL

The total test consists of 24 triangle bursts. A pause of 0.194 seconds occurs between bursts. Total test
time for all 24 bursts is 15 seconds. The first series of 12 bursts are repeated with their polarity inverted
to obtain the last series of 12 bursts. The fundamental frequency of 1 cycle for each of the 24 total bursts
is documented in the following table, along with the polarity of the burst.

Note that the test used a staggered order for the burst frequencies, and covers the range from 10Hz to
30Hz. The full series of 24 triangle bursts is shown in the following waveform.

Test Acceleration Amplitude:

The measured acceleration on the CD mechanism under test shall be greater than or equal to 35
m/s^2pp for each of the 24 bursts at maximum burst amplitude (corresponds to cycle number 4). A
uniform maximum acceleration at each burst frequency may be obtained either by pre-scaling the signal
driving the shaker to account for the system transfer function, or through use of a suitable controller.

Test Direction & Unit Orientation:

The test shall be performed in the up-down direction. "Up-down" shall correspond to vehicle roof-to-floor
direction. During each test the CD mechanism shall be fixtured rigidly in the same orientation as when
installed in the vehicle. Only rigid fixturing, not vehicle mounting bracketry, will be used for the test.

TEST DISC And Play Position:

Testing shall be performed either with the standard Ford demo disc (F4VF-18C822-AA) playing track
number 9, or alternatively with the ABEX aging disc (TCD792A) playing track number 12. CD units with a
removable magazine shall be tested with the magazine full. CD changers shall be tested separately for
the test disc retrieved from slot 1, the maximum slot, and the middle slot (defined as the maximum slot
divided by 2, rounded down to the nearest integer). Only discs free from scratches, fingerprints, mars
and defects shall be used for this test.

12.6.2 In Vehicle Anti-Skip Testing

According to SDS Audio V.29 (IE 0231)

All vibration tests shall have Ford approval of test setup. Ford shall conduct the following test to
determine in-vehicle anti-skip performance of the unit. The units must functionally operate under the
conditions described in this section. The unit shall be evaluated in the designated vehicle by production
intent installation methods. A fully loaded magazine of compact discs shall be in the unit with one Ford
demonstration disc focused on track nine prior to starting the evaluation. The evaluator(s) shall be tested
separately for the test disc retrieved from magazine slot 1, the maximum slot and the middle slot (defined
as the maximum slot divided by two, rounded down to the nearest integer).

The vehicle shall be evaluated at the Dearborn Test Track low speed rough road evaluation
course. If the vehicle has variable suspension adjustment, set the stiffest available ride setting. The
units are to be tested at both the high temperature limit and low temperature limit for the vehicle system
which is defined to be from -10°C to 40°C. The following rough road surfaces and speeds (referenced by
Dearborn Test Track procedure VTP-022-DC) shall be evaluated by driving the vehicle three laps:

1. Outer Lane (rough) 40-45 MPH

2. Brick 40-45 MPH
3. 2 Ft. Sine Wave Road 10-30 MPH Sweep
4. 4 Ft. Sine Wave Road 20-40 MPH Sweep
5. Undulating 45 MPH
6. Belgian Block 30 MPH
7. Cobblestone 12 MPH
8. Harshness Pre-Inkster 45 MPH
9. Pitch and Jounce Road 30 MPH
10. Impact 45 MPH
11. Cold Patch 50 MPH
12. Harshness Pre-Rochester 50 MPH
13. Inner Lane (smooth) 60 MPH

The evaluation shall be considered successful if the following conditions are met:

INNOVATION FORD RADIO SRD V1.6.DOC

Page 97 of 109
VISTEON CONFIDENTIAL

1. No major skips are encountered. A major skip shall be defined as a condition whereby
permanent audio muting occurs and/or disc ejection occurs. No permanent operating damage shall be
sustained by the unit that adversely affects operating performance or reliability.

2. No moderate skips are encountered with the exception of Cobblestone, which is allowed to
have up to two skips. A moderate skip shall be defined as a jump from one track to another or from one
program # to another.

3. No minor skips are encountered with the exception of Cobblestone, which is allowed to
have up to seven skips. A minor skip shall be defined as a short duration loss or alteration of audio
output.

Note: If the test track has changed since definition of this acceptance criteria, Ford reserves the
right to use a value judgment on the acceptability of the actual number of skips encountered.
