PART 4: READING

The New Fumix Webcam

This week's feature is on a gadget that I've had fun with in the last week, the new Fumix XCam69 webcam. Before
getting this one, I enjoyed using their Cam55 for several years for gaming and video chats. I wasn't sure it was
possible to create a better webcam at an affordable price, but I think Fumix have done it.
This new model also sits at the top of your computer, but it’s a bit smaller than the old one. Just like the old design,
you can use it with any computer which has a USB connection. It’s more advanced, but no more difficult to use.
This is a good thing, because it arrived with a user guide in Japanese! If you have the same problem, and you
haven't used a Fumix webcam before, just go to their website, where you can quickly download user instructions in
one of ten different languages.
I haven't tried all the gadget's functions yet, but I can say that it worked while online gaming. I've also used it to
upload and share images on social networking sites, without any problems. It has a built-in microphone, so it's great
for video chats. A new feature of the XCam69 is that you can update the camera's software from the Fumix website.
That's quite exciting, but I haven't found time to see what kinds of new software you can get, or if you need to pay
for them.
Fumix have also reduced the price of their new webcam. The old model cost £99, but this new version only costs
£79, plus £10 more if you want a silver or gold version. (The previous range was only available in the traditional
black or white.) The design is a bit less attractive, but it’s much better value in a competitive market. You can buy
the XCam69 online. It isn’t available in shops, but you can also order it over the phone from their catalogue, or by
post, if you don't mind waiting a little longer for it to arrive.

PART 5: WRITING
Imagine your local council is organising a festival. You want to make sure that the festival is as environmentally-
friendly as possible. Write an email to the festival organiser about the things he / she can do to make this happen.
Where possible, use relative clauses and so and because to talk about reasons and results. (100–120
words) (12 points)

You can use the following ideas for each paragraph.

Paragraph 1: location – easy to walk / cycle to the festival?
Paragraph 2: use of packaging and containers.
Paragraph 3: rubbish (enough bins, recycling).
Paragraph 4: festival food (healthy, local).

Hello

I am writing to you because I found out that there was going to be a festival and I wanted to
propose some ideas.

I propose that it be done in the main square as it is easy to get to and you can go by bike or on
foot. To serve healthy food and drinks, reusable cups and plates can be used. I also believe that
there should be enough trash and recycling bins to keep the space clean and free of
contamination.

For this, we could all donate an amount and thus be able to pay for everything.

Thank you for reading
