ENGLISH III FIRST PARTIAL ORAL EVALUATION

GUIDELINES
1. Usted debe mantener una conversación de 3-4 minutos con uno de sus
compañeros escogidos al azar utilizando uno de los tres escenarios que se
presentan después de estas instrucciones. Evite pausas.

2. Los ´Phrase Banks´ son ayudas para que su conversación sea más
organizada y concreta, pero usted necesita completarlos con más
estructuras y vocabulario para cumplir con el tiempo requerido. Revise las
presentaciones de la clase, los recursos en Blackboard y el material extra
trabajado durante clase para este fin.

3. Es obligatorio preparar los tres escenarios con anticipación. Recuerde que


al momento de su examen cualquiera de dichos escenarios y roles A y B
serán escogidos al azar.

4. Este examen tiene un valor de 10 puntos oro.

5. Durante la evaluación oral no será permitido la lectura. No se permitirá


el uso de anotaciones, cuadernos y/o celulares.

6. Los aspectos a tener en cuenta al momento de evaluar su participación


serán:

• Fluidez: Habilidad de producir la lengua en tiempo real y hablar por


periodos largos (apropiados a su nivel) sin vacilación.

• Interacción: Habilidad de interactuar y mantener una conversación.


Esto requiere comprensión tanto para responder como para hacer una
pregunta de seguimiento que es apropiada para el comentario del
interlocutor.

• Rango Gramatical y Exactitud: Uso apropiado de las estructuras


gramaticales, elección de tiempo gramatical necesario para el contexto o
situación, orden correcto de las palabras en la estructura gramatical.

• Recurso Léxico: Rango de palabras y frases usadas de manera


apropiada.

• Pronunciación y entonación: Inteligibilidad, ritmo, melodía del habla.


Role – Play #1: On the move

Student A- Tourist
You are a tourist, and you want to go by bus to the new shopping center (City Mall).
You aren’t sure if this is the right bus stop. Student B is a local resident who is also
waiting at the bus stop. Ask Student B for information about the shopping center’s
location, the bus stop, bus fare, and schedules.

You can use the following phrases to complete your questions and ideas.

Phrase Bank:

Excuse me, can you please help me?

Where is the new shopping center located?

Is this the correct bus stop to go to _______?


Oh no! Where is the bus stop?

How much is the ___?

What time is the next bus?

Student B – Local Resident


You are a local resident waiting at the bus stop. You are going to help a tourist
(Student A) with the information he/she needs by answering his/her questions.
You can use the following phrases to complete your ideas.

Role – play #2: Occupations

Student A – Career Advisor


You are a career advisor. Student B doesn’t know what job to choose, so he/she
wants your help to choose the right job. Ask him/her some questions to know
more about Student B’s interests, and then recommend him/her a job accordingly.

You can use the following phrases to complete your ideas.

Phrase Bank:

What are your interests?

Do you like helping people?

Do you like working outside?

Are you good at explaining things?

Student B- Looking for help


You really want to choose a new occupation and you are looking for advice to know
what is best for you. You meet with a career advisor (Student A) to get help.
Answer Student A’s questions about you and then ask about the job he/she
recommends.

Role – Play #3: Registering at a gym

Student A- Client
You have decided you need to change your lifestyle and improve your health. This
is the reason why you want to join a gym. You want to register at ¨Xtreme Fitness¨.
Ask the gym owner (Student B) about the activities that can be done at the gym.
You really want to use the swimming pool and have a healthy drink after your
workout. Student B is also a fitness trainer, ask him/her about the schedule for
your favorite workout classes.
You can use the following phrases to complete your ideas.
