amado.
Many years ago, there existed in Egypt, a distant country, a beautiful queen who was
famous not only for her beauty, but also for her intelligence and great ability to govern her
country; her name was Cleopatra. A pretty and studious woman Daughter of the Kings
Ptolemy and Cleopatra Trifena, the protagonist of our story was a very beautiful woman,
with beautiful eyes and black hair and straight. It is said that in order to preserve her
beauty she did strange things, such as bathing with milk so that her skin was very soft. We
leave you a video of the fun series Asterix and Obelix where you can see how some
people imagine that they were the baths of such a famous woman. But Cleopatra was not
only pretty, she was also very studious and intelligent, since she could speak seven
languages and knew many interesting things about the stars, music, medicine,
mathematics, literature and politics, so it was very pleasant to talk to her. Cleopatra's
father died and she took her place when she was only 17 years old! His country, Egypt,
was very close to the Nile River, the largest and most important of the African continent, so
for a time it was known as "The Queen of the Nile." The loves of Cleopatra The tradition of
ancient Egypt indicated that Cleopatra should marry her own brother, Ptolemy, to be able
to be queen, only that his brother was just a child of 12 years (can you imagine marrying at
that age?). Cleopatra and Ptolemy were married, but since they were obviously not in love,
the queen was not happy with him and they fought all the time, besides that she wanted to
rule her country by herself; that's why he planned how to force his brother to leave the
throne to be the only queen.
At that time she met the emperor Julius Caesar, who was impressed with her beauty, but
above all with her intelligence, and helped her take the throne from her brother to be her
only queen. Julius Caesar and Cleopatra had a son: Caesarion. A couple of years later,
Julius Caesar died in a war.
Some time later, Cleopatra met another emperor, Marco Antonio, who fell in love with her.
With him he had three children: Ptolemy and the twins Alejandro Helios and Cleopatra
Selene. People said that Cleopatra could conquer any man she wanted, even if she was the
most powerful king, that's why she was later called "the queen of Kings".
However, Marco Antonio already had a wife in Rome, where he lived, and the government people
were very upset to see that he left that wife to marry Cleopatra. This situation caused the Romans
to declare war.
Octavius, the commander of the army who declared war on them, captured Cleopatra and made
Mark Antony believe that she was already dead. He believed the lie and decided to take his own
life, because he did not want to live without his beloved wife. When Cleopatra knew that
Marco Antonio was dead, she also decided to die, because she could not stand the idea of losing
the man she loved so much.
Cleopatra dressed in her best clothes, she put on her make-up and ordered an asp, which is a very
poisonous viper from Africa, to bite her. This is how the most beautiful and powerful queen of
Egypt died, with a broken heart for losing her beloved.
