3-2 Hace Que With Present and Past - Teacher Version
In Spanish, HACE _____ QUE _____ is a sentence structure that is used for two different
concepts. It can be used with both the Present and the Preterite (past) tense. When used with
the present, it means that the given activity has been happening for X amount of time (and it’s
still ongoing today). When used with the past, it means that the given activity happened X
amount of time ago. In order to know which is being used, simply look at the verb conjugation.
The present tense means it’s still happening, while the past tense means it happened that long
ago. We will begin with the present tense.
