The most common way to ask for the price of an item in Spanish is ¿Cuánto cuesta? or ¿Cuánto cuesta esto?We can also ask ¿Cuánto vale? or ¿Cuánto vale
esto? We use these questions in formal situations, that is, in a business, such as a clothing, accessories or handicraft store, or in a fruit sale, for example.

Utilizamos, entonces, ¿Cuánto cuesta esto? cuando no queremos decir el nombre del artículo o no sabemos cómo se dice. Ahora bien, si queremos preguntar de
manera específica por un artículo y sí sabemos cómo se dice, utilizamos la forma ¿Cuánto cuesta este…? o ¿Cuánto cuesta esta…? y añadimos el nombre del
objeto. Atención: en el primer caso, se tratará de un objeto de género masculino y en el segundo uno de género femenino, como en los ejemplos de arriba: reloj
es masculino; blusa es femenino. Ahora miremos estos otros ejemplos:

Como habrá podido observar, en los casos anteriores, hemos hablado de un solo objeto, pero si preguntamos por el precio de un objeto plural, como zapatos o
pantalones, o simplemente dos o más objetos, debemos decir ¿Cuánto cuestan? o ¿Cuánto cuestan estos? Y, cuando preguntamos de manera específica con las
palabras que describen los objetos, decimos ¿Cuánto cuestan estos…? o ¿Cuánto cuestan estas…? y añadimos el nombre de los objetos en plural. Atención: en
el primer caso, se tratará de objetos de género masculino y en el segundo, objetos de género femenino, como en los ejemplos de abajo: relojes es masculino;
blusas es femenino. Ahora miremos estos otros ejemplos en plural:
