Un Walkman y un casete son símbolos de los 80´s que representaron un cambio importante en la experiencia
de escuchar música, fue una década de evolución tecnológica masiva, que impulsaba tendencias futuristas en
todo ámbito, incluyendo el musical en el que se empleaban los sintetizadores , controladores MIDI, baterías
electrónicas para crear el sonido del New Wave y del Synth Pop.

El ícono musical de los 80´s es indudablemente Michael Jackson que lideró la lista de las 100 Calientes de
Billboard con nueve (9) canciones diferentes en esa década, en 1983 con “Billie Jean” la lideró por siete (7)
semanas y con “Beat It” tres (3) semanas, ambos pertenecientes al álbum “Thriller”(1982) el más vendido en la
historia de la música. Existe una alta probabilidad de que usted tenga ese álbum, lo haya tenido o simplemente
lo haya escuchado.

Ese mismo año 1983 The Police lideró también las 100 Calientes de Billboard durante (8) semanas con la canción
“Every Breath You Take”, ese éxito sucedía mientras la banda estaba en proceso de eliminación. Si uno debe
elegir entre las principales bandas de los 80´s que representan el sonido y que han sido seguidas masivamente,
la selección seguro estaría entre The Police, Tears For Fears y U2.
