¿Qué son los verbos modales?

Modal verbs, or verbos modales, are those verbs that help a sentence have a better
meaning thanks to their function. You can use them when you want to give another
meaning to a sentence. For example, if you want to ask permission to speak.
Los modal verbs, o verbos modales, son aquellos verbos que ayudan a que una oración tenga un mejor
significado gracias a su función. Puedes utilizarlos cuando quieras darle otro significado a una oración. Por
ejemplo, si quieres pedir permiso para hablar.

So, these verbs that serve as auxiliary verbs, seek to give a specific meaning to certain
actions.
Entonces, estos verbos que sirven como verbos auxiliares, buscan darle un significado especifico a ciertas
acciones.

¿Qué significa would?

Pues literalmente la palabra “would” no significa nada. SIN EMBARGO, se usa para crear
las terminaciones –ría (correría), –rías (saltarías), –ríamos (llamaríamos), –ríais
(dormiríais) y –rían (reirían).
¿Cuándo se usa?
It is used when we want to be very polite by asking someone for something or inviting
someone to do something. When it is accompanied by the verb to like, it is usually
translated as I would like, I would like, I would like, etc.
Se usa cuando queremos ser muy educados al pedirle algo a alguien o al invitar a alguien a que
haga algo. Cuando va acompañado del verbo to like se suele traducir por querría, quisiera, me
gustaría, etc.

¿Cómo se usa?
Would es un verbo modal, y por lo tanto no cambia para la tercera persona del plural (I
would, She would...) y el verbo que le sigue siempre va sin to.

¿Cómo funciona en estructuras: afirmativa, negativa e interrogativa?

Affirmative
We usually contract would and put it as a d with an apostrophe. In this case it is
pronounced like a normal and current d. For example, I'd.

Negative
Wouldn't is the contracted form of would and not, which is used far more than the
uncontracted form. It is pronounced /u-udnt/.
Wouldn't es la forma contraída de would y not, que se usa muchísimo más que la forma sin contraer. Se
pronuncia /u-udnt/.

She wouldn't like it.

A ella no le gustaría.

And in questions, would works as an auxiliary and is placed at the very beginning.
Y en preguntas, would funciona como un auxiliar y se coloca al principio del todo.
