Yanet:
años 2020 a 2022.
Pedro:
Pedro:
¡Muchas gracias por su atención! Esperamos que sigan disfrutando del congreso.
EN INGLÉS
Yanet:
Hello everyone, we are Yanet Gericó and Pedro Camerata, members of the Argentinian
research team of IMLA-RIIA and we would like to share with you the activity report for the
years 2020 to 2022.
Pedro:
Since 2020 this team is conducting an online seminar with frequent meetings in which
students, graduates and teachers from both Latin American and European universities
participate. We are mainly focused on studying some of the dynamics of the transnational
circulation of opera towards the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century,
particularly in its migration to South America.
Yanet:
As part of this permanent seminar we held some special meetings with invited researchers.
In mid-2020 we organized a presentation by Francesco Paolo Russo entitled "Critical edition
of operas" on his work with Rossini's manuscripts. In August of the same year Matteo
Paoletti shared his research on the figure of the impresario Walter Mocchi. Finally,
Sebastiano de Filippi presented progress on his doctoral thesis on the interpretative
traditions of Verdi's La Traviata.
Pedro:
Also during 2020, the First RIIA-UBA Meeting was held, coordinated by the speaker, in
which I participated as an orator together with Gustavo Zito, Ramiro Pizá, Julián Guzzo, Yoel
Vilois and Yanet Gericó. The presentations dealt with topics such as: the relationship
between Wagner and ancient Greek tragedy, Rossini's prime act finales, opera according to
the Buenos Aires press in the early 20th century, a first approach to the theatrical activity in
the Argentine province of La Pampa and the circulation of traveling companies in the
Argentine regions of Cuyo and Litoral.
Yanet:
During 2021 we carried out the systematization process of the data collected by César Dillon
in his chronology of the Old Teatro Colón. This systematization will soon be available in the
IMLA database. We carried out this work together with Yoel Vilois, Pedro Camerata, Alba de
Pizzol, Elisa Corriere and Salvatore Saieva.
In the framework of this activity we are preparing a talk to share advances in the analysis of
these data with the students of the laurea course of the Department of Arts, Music and
Performance of the University of Bologna, in charge of Dr. Matteo Paoletti. It will take place
in October this year.

A few months ago, in April, the seminar "Hemerographic sources for the study of lyrical
activity in Argentina" was held by José Ignacio Weber and the two speakers of this
presentation. On this occasion, we proposed to offer a summary of the advances in the
knowledge of the hemerographic sources for the study of opera in Argentina, in the
intercentury period.
Yanet:
Finally, we would like to mention the open series of meetings on opera that we are
organizing this year. This series aims at interdisciplinary exchange in order to make the
study of the operatic phenomenon more complex through interaction with different
specialists. So far the "Opera and Identity" and "Opera and Literature" meetings have been
held.
Pedro:
Thank you very much for your attention! We hope you continue to enjoy the congress.
