mediante una contextualización en situaciones cotidianas, elementos importantes
del idioma inglés como los adverbios de tiempo, expresiones de cantidad, en
relación con las comidas y a utilizar el pasado continuo en interrogantes y
respuestas. Aprenderás también a preguntar correctamente la hora con todas sus
variantes válidas.

1. Inglés principiantes_El tiempo (la hora)

Damos inicio a nuestro curso de inglés en su nivel para

principiantes. En la lección de hoy vamos a aprender cómo
hacer preguntas sobre el tiempo (la hora). Aprenderás
diversas formas de preguntar por la hora: "Do you have the
time please?" and, "what time is it?" and "What is the time
please?" (¿Tienes hora por favor?, ¿Qué hora es?, ¿Cuál es la
hora por favor?)

Beginner - time

Study points

In this lesson we will learn how to ask question about time.

Watch

You are now going to watch a movie about two friends call Laurent and Catherine. They are
going to the cinema. After the movie, we will have a short lesson and quiz.

Learn

Can you remember? What time does the movie star? The movie starts at six thirty. Another
way of saying six thirty is "half past six".

What time did Catherine had to be home? Let´s watch the movie. Catherine asks: "Do we
have time?" She needs to get home by nine thirty. Yes there is time. They can go to the
cinema.

Now let´s look at some ways to ask the time:

"Do you have the time? Excuse me, do you have the time please?" Or "What is the time
please?"

Try

Now it is your turn to have a try. There is a question about time. See if you can fill in the
gaps:

"_________ __________ does the movie start?"

"What time is it? It is three P.M."

There is another way of asking the time. Can you fill in the gaps:

"____ me, do you _____ the time please?"

Review points

We have learned how to ask the time:

"Do you have the time please?" and, "what time is it?" and "What is the time please?"

2. Inglés principiantes. Apartamento

Segunda lección de nuestro curso de inglés en su nivel para

principiantes. Hoy vamos a aprender el uso de adverbios,
como sometimes, usually, always, never, often, en torno
a aquella situación, muy común, en que una persona se
halla en búsqueda de un compañero de habitación para la
renta de un apartamento.

Beginner - apartment

Study points

Today we are going to learn how to use adverbs, like:

- SOMETIMES and,
- USUALLY

Watch

We are now going to look at the movie. Janice is looking for a roommate for her apartment.

Learn

Janice and Heather talked about their days. Did you hear any of these words? They are called
adverbs:

SOMETIMES
USUALLY
ALWAYS
NEVER
OFTEN

Look at these sentences. Heather said: "I usually work 9-5". She uses the adverb "usually".
Usually comes before the verb "work" in this sentence. Heather also says: "Sometimes, I go
out to a bar". This time words or adverbs can be at the beginning of the sentence of before
the verb.

Now let´s look at what Janice and Heather said. Notice where the adverbs are in the
sentence: "I always work on weekends. I usually work 9-5 Monday through Friday.
Sometimes I go out to eat or to a movie". Take a look at these examples from the movie.

Heather says: "Sometimes, I go out." Where is the adverb? At the beginning of the sentence.

Janice said: "I don´t usually go out". Where is the adverb? Before the main verb of the
sentence.

Try

Now let´s go back to the movie and see what Janice and Heather said.

How often does Janice work? Fill in the blank: "The money is good but I ________ work on
weekends."

How often does Heather work? Fill in the blank. "I _________ work 9-5 Monday through
Friday".

Review points

Today we talked about adverbs. We often use these adverbs in English. We usually use them
at the beginning of the sentence, or just before the verb: "Sometimes, I go out to eat or to a
movie." I always work on weekends."

Tercera lección de nuestro curso de inglés en su nivel para

principiantes. Hoy vamos a dedicarnos por completo a las
preguntas y respuestas en pasado continuo, por ejemplo: "What
were you doing last week?" "We were working all week": "¿Qué
estabas (estaban) haciendo la semana pasada?" Estuvimos
trabajando toda la semana.

Beginner - office talk

Study points

This lesson is all about past continuous questions and answers.

What were you doing last week? I was studying for my exam. We were working all week.

First we will review some words about work. How are the clients at your job? Clients are people who
buy products or services. In your job, do you have to talk in front of many people? This is called a
presentation. Sometimes we use pictures in a presentation. A projector shows the pictures on the
wall.

Watch

We are going to watch a video. A worker is talking to his boss.

Learn

Lets talk about the grammar. Sometimes, we use past actions that continued for some time. We show
that they continued using the past continuous. Read these sentences:

"I was studying last week. They were studying last week." Notice how they use to "to be" in the past:
"was" and "were". "Was" is for "I",

"he", "she" and "it". "Were" is for "you", "we" and "they". We add "-ing" to the main verb. This is the
past continuous. It shows that the action was continuing in the past.

Try

I will show you sentences from the video with some words missing. Read these sentences and guess
which works are missing:

"So tell me, what _____ you doing when I was away last week?" "Well, I _____ working pretty hard all
week."
Let try another:

"What ____ John doing during the presentation?" "He ____ helping me with the projector".
Review points

Today we have practiced past continuous questions and answers. "What were you doing last week?"
"We were working all week".

4. Inglés principiantes. Comida

principiantes. Hoy vamos a aprender a expresarnos sobre
las comidas que nos gustan o nos disgustan. Esta
situación nos ayudará a comprender y a utilizar las
expresiones de cantidad y los sustantivos contables e
incontables.

Beginner - food

Study points

In this lesson you will learn how to talk about food you like
and dislike. We will also learn how to express quantities.

Before we watch a short movie, I´ll teach you some vocabulary describing food:

- TO BAKE. Do you like to bake? We bake bread, cookies and potatoes in a hot oven.

- BAKERY. A bakery is a store that bakes bread and other products like it.

- WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR. Flour is the powder we use to make bread. Whole wheat bread is
brown and is healthier than white bread.

- ORGANIC. Organic food has no chemicals in it.

Watch

We are now going to watch a shot movie. Two friends are sharing food and talking. Listen for
their likes and dislikes.

Learn

Now let´s talk about the grammar in the movie. Look at these sentences:

"Would you like a hamburger?" "Would you like an orange?" "Would you like some vegetables?"
For countable nouns, we use "a" or "an" and "numbers". If the number is not important, we
use "some". We add "s" to show there is more than one. "An orange. Two oranges. Three
oranges. Some oranges."

"Would you like some cheese? Would you like a piece of cheese?" Some nouns are
uncountable. "Some cheese. Some water. Some rice. Some ham." We don´t use "a" or "an" and
we don´t use "numbers". We also don´t use "s" because it can´t be plural. It is uncountable.
We can only count parts of uncountable nouns. "A piece of cheese; two pieces of cheese;
some pieces of cheese."

Try

Let´s go on. It is now your turn to practice speaking. I will show you part of the movie. Watch
the people, then listen to me and repeat what I say.

"Would you like some cheese".

"Just take some from the bread".

"Do you like baking?"

"I like to grow my own vegetables".

Review points

You have now practice talking about food you like and dislike. You´ve also learn to express
quantities, for countable nouns, such as a hamburger. We can say: "Would you like a
hamburger?" For uncountable nouns such as cheese, we can say "Would you like some
cheese".
