A Warning Poem

Fish confuse plastic straws with food


because they don’t have anywhere else to look.
If fish see plastic straws as food, at some point,
you will end up eating plastic too.
But, do you know why this happens?
If we overuse plastic straws, they end up in the ocean.
If they end up in the ocean, the fish’ ecosystem gets contaminated.
If the fish’ ecosystem gets contaminated, fish get poisoned… and may die.
But, do you know how to stop this?
We can use metal straws that can be reused.
If we use metal straws, the ocean doesn’t get contaminated.
If the ocean doesn’t get contaminated, fish can live happily ever after.
