PRESENTACIÓN DE LA TEORIA

PAST SIMPLE

Hay muchas maneras de hablar del pasado en inglés, pero el pasado simple es la
forma más común. El pasado simple en inglés es equivalente al pretérito imperfecto
y pretérito indefinido del español. Usamos el pasado simple para acciones
completas en el pasado. El período de tiempo de estas acciones no es importante
como en el español. En el pasado simple hay verbos regulares y verbos
irregulares.

 REGULAR VERBS: Para formar el pasado simple con verbos regulares,


usamos el infinitivo y añadimos la terminación “-ed”. La forma es la misma
para todas las personas (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).

EXAMPLES: want → wanted


Learn → learned
Stay → stayed
Walk → walked
-I learned the regular verbs yesterday (Yo aprendí los verbos regulares ayer)
-She stayed at home the last vacations. (Ella se quedó en casa las últimas
vacaciones)
-You walked to home after the class. (Tú caminaste a casa después de clase)

 IREGULAR VERBS: Hay muchos verbos irregulares en inglés.


Desafortunadamente, no hay una norma establecida para formarlos. A
continuación, tienes los tres verbos irregulares más comunes en inglés:

En esta lista puedes encontrar los 50 verbos más comunes en el inglés, ten
en cuanta que la primera columna se refiere a los verbos en su forma normal o
forma base, y en la segunda columna (color amarillo) encontrarás la
conjugación en PASADO SIMPLE de cada uno de los verbos:

RECUERDA: El verbo TO BE es uno de los verbos irregulares y como se puede


ver en sus formas en pasado simple, se pueden traducir por: yo fui / estuve / era /
estaba, tú fuiste / estuviste / eras / estabas, etc.). Este verbo no tiene la misma
forma negativa e interrogativa de los demás verbos en el tiempo PASADO
SIMPLE como lo muestra la tabla anterior. Por eso, aquí te presento la estructura
del verbo TO BE en pasado simple en forma afirmativa y negativa:

She wasn’t a doctor (Ella no era doctora.)

I didn’t want to dance. (No quería bailar.)
They didn’t learn English. (No aprendieron inglés)

INTERROGATIVES:

Read through the facts about Walt Disney and then answer the questions.
WALT DISNEY

1. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago. He was one of five
children.
2. As a child, Walt took art classes in Chicago and drew for the school newspaper.
3. In 1923, Walt moved to Hollywood. He created the first animated film to have
sound. It was called Steamboat Willie and starred Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
4. He continued to create more characters such as Goofy, Donald Duck, and Pluto.
5. In 1932, Walt decided he wanted to make a full-length animated film called
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It took five years to complete and was finally
released in 1937. It was a huge success.
6. Walt produced more animated movies including Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo,
Bambi, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan.
7. Disneyland opened in 1955 and cost 17 million dollars to build. The Park was a
massive success and is still one of the most popular holiday destinations in the
world.
8. Walt Disney himself was the original voice for Mickey Mouse.
9. In his lifetime, he received 7 Emmy Awards, 4 honorary Academy Awards, 22
Academy Awards, giving him more awards and nominations than any other
individual in history.
10. Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, from lung cancer. Walt and his wife,
Lilly, had two children.
