¡Mira el carpintero
peludo!
Ilustración de Erin Mauterer
Este pájaro es un
carpintero peludo macho.
Las hembras son muy
parecidas, pero no
tienen plumas rojas en
la cabeza. Los pájaros
carpinteros golpean las
superficies duras con el
pico. ¡Hacen mucho ruido!

Lily is excited.
She has homework!
The teacher has asked
everyone to bring 100
things to celebrate the
100th day of school.
“What fun!”
says Mom.
24
Lily finds 10 rubber bands and 10 paper clips.
Mom finds 10 buttons and 10 pennies.
Lily counts her bags. “I have six bags.”
“Let’s keep looking,” says Mom.
Soon 10 ribbons
and 10 cotton balls
go into bags.
Lily counts again.
“Eight bags.”
“Almost there,”
says Mom.
25
Lily puts 10 stickers and 10 crayons in the
last two bags. She says, “Ten bags!”
26
Mom draws 10 hearts and Lily helps cut them out.
Then she puts them in the bag and says, “Now I have
a hundred things.”
