Verbo
“to be” en tiempo presente. Oraciones afirmativas, negativas
UNIDAD 2
y preguntas. Contracciones.
PRONOMBRES PERSONALES
personales:
SINGULAR PLURAL
I / yo We / nosotros, nosotras
EJEMPLOS:
Tom is american. He is american.
VERBO TO BE
El verbo “to be” tiene dos significados: “ser” o “estar”. En esta unidad vamos a estudiar solamente
el significado de “ser”. A este efecto, el verbo “to be” se conjuga de la manera siguiente:
“Are” significa “eres”, “son”, “ somos” y se usa con los pronombres personales “You”,“They”, “We”:
“Is” significa “es” y se usa con los pronombres “She”, “He”, “It”:
He is a baby: El es un bebe
4
CONTRACCIONES
You are in New York. You're in New York. You are not in Miami. You aren't in Miami.
She is a woman. She's a woman She is not a woman. She isn't a woman.
They are animals. They're animals. They are not animals. They aren't animals.

“a/an”. El Plural. Pronombres Demostrativos “This”,“That”,
“These”y “Those”.
A B C D E F G H I
/ei/ /bi/ /si/ /di/ /i/ /ef/ /lli/ /eich/ /ai/
J K L M N O P Q R
/llei/ /kei/ /el/ /em/ /en/ /ou/ /pi/ /kiu/ /ar/
S T U V W X Y Z
/es/ /ti/ /iu/ /vi/ /dábliu/ /eks/ /uai/ /zi/
a man. / un hombre.
a thing. / una cosa.
an apple.
a boy. / un muchacho.
a girl. / una muchacha.
EXCEPCIONES:
LA LETRA “U” TIENE DOS SONIDOS:
1) Cuando suena como una “o”, usa “an”: an umbrella, an umpire, an uncle.
knife - knives.
wife - wives.
leaf - leaves.
loaf - loaves.
scarf - scarves.
8

25
En esta unidad se aprenderá: Presente simple. Auxiliar DO / DOES. UNIDAD 8
Profesiones / ocupaciones.
PRESENTE SIMPLE
Por ejemplo: si usamos los pronombres I / YOU / WE / THEY el verbo permanece igual; pero
studies / fly - flies.
I do not go = I don't go / Yo no voy
You don't study / Tú no estudias. He does not go = He doesn't go / Él no va.
We don't speak / Nosotros no hablamos. She doesn't study / Ella no estudia.
They don't swim / Ellos no nadan. It doesn't work / Esto(a) (objeto o animal) no funciona.
Nota: Una palabra Wh o Wh- word, es una palabra interrogativa tal como what, who, which etc.
26
“DO/DOES” COMO VERBO DE ACCION :
En preguntas:
En oraciones:
PROFESIONES / OCUPACIONES
Cuando se refiere al sujeto directo se usa “who”, no se usa auxiliar do o does y el verbo va con “s”:
27
EJEMPLO CON TODOS LOS PRONOMBRES EN SINGULAR Y PLURAL:
do I ¿Qué hago?
do We ¿Qué hacemos?
PROFESIONES
A flight attendant takes care of people on an airplane. A bus driver drives a bus.
