MAKE A RESEARCH ABOUT REPORTED SPEECH
She said she was coming to class (Ella dijo que iba a venir a clase).
I told you I wouldn’t be able to come (Te dije que no podría venir).
producen algunos cambios:
Estilo directo:
I am happy to drive you to the airport.
2
Estilo directo (present simple) Estilo indirecto o reported speech
(past simple)
I know what to do (Sé lo que hay que She said she knew what to do
hacer).
(Dijo que sabía lo que había que
hacer).
4
Más abajo encontrarás cómo hacer referencia a distintos momentos temporales.
I’ve finished my lunch She said she had finished her lunch
I haven’t finished my lunch She said she hadn’t finished her lunch
Have you finished your lunch? She asked if I had finished my lunch
5
Estilo directo(present perfect Estilo indirecto o reported speech
continuous) (past perfect continuous)
I’ve been listening to the news He said he had been listening to the
news
(He estado escuchando las noticias).
(Dijo que había estado escuchando
las noticias).
I haven’t been listening to the news He said he hadn’t been listening to the
news
(No he estado escuchando las
noticias). (Dijo que no había estado
escuchando las noticias).
Have you been listening to the news? He asked if I had been listening to the
news
(¿Has estado escuchando las
noticias?). (Preguntó si yo había estado
escuchando las noticias).
6
Estilo directo (will) Estilo indirecto o reported speech
(would)
I’ll finish the report on time She said she would finish the report on
time
(Terminaré el informe a tiempo).
(Dijo que terminaría el informe a
tiempo).
I won’t finish the report on time She said she wouldn’t finish the report
on time
(No terminaré el informe a tiempo).
(Dijo que no terminaría el informe a
tiempo).
Will you finish the report on time? She asked if I would finish the report
on time
(¿Terminarás el informe a tiempo?).
(Preguntó si yo terminaría el informe
a tiempo).
7
Estilo directo (past simple) Estilo indirecto o reported speech
(past perfect)
I did the training at the same time as She said she had done the training at
Carol the same time as Carol
I didn’t do the training at the same time She said she hadn’t done the training
as Carol at the same time as Carol
Did you do the training at the same She asked if I had done the training at
time as Carol the same time as Carol
8
Estilo directo (past continuous) Estilo indirecto o reported speech
(past perfect continuous)
9
Past perfect
10
I’ll do it today She said she would do it that day*
11
I did it last week He said he had done it the previous
week
(Lo hice la semana pasada).
(Dijo que lo había hecho la semana
anterior).
I’m not available now She said she wasn’t available at the
time
(Ahora no estoy disponible).
(Dijo que no estaba disponible en ese
momento).
12
I’ll do it today
13
Excepciones y variantes
Verbos modales
I can help you with the party She said she could help me with the
party
(Puedo ayudarte con la fiesta).
(Dijo que podría ayudarme con la
fiesta).
14
Would you like a coffee? He asked if I would like a coffee
(¿Puedo salir antes hoy?). She asked if she could leave early
today
Should I call head office? She asked if she should call head
office
(¿Debo / Debería llamar a la oficina
central?). (Preguntó si debería llamar a la oficina
central).
I have a headache.
Me duele la cabeza.
I told you I have a headache!
sigue hablando a voces)
Said y told
“told”.
15
I’ll be at work early.
Llegaré temprano al trabajo.
She told me she would be at work early.
She said to me that she would be at work early.
16
Said y told
