Introducción

El cobre, principal motor económico de Chile y que a lo largo del tiempo ha sido el foco
del surgimiento de nuevas ciudades y creación de nuevos empleos, ha dado como
resultado un mayor bienestar para el país.

Chile ha aumentado considerablemente su producción de Cobre, cabe destacar que

sólo una empresa, CODELCO, representa el 33% de la producción nacional de de
este mineral.

Para obtener este preciado metal, en nuestro país hay 2 formas de extraerlo de la
tierra:

i) La extracción subterránea: se realiza cuando un yacimiento presenta una

cubierta de material estéril muy espesa, lo que hace que la extracción
desde la superficie sea muy poco rentable. Para ello se realizan distintos
tipos de faenas bajo el suelo, las que pueden ser horizontales en túneles o
galerías, verticales en piques o inclinadas en rampas.
ii) La extracción a rajo abierto: se hace cuando una mina presenta una forma
regular y el mineral está ubicado en la superficie y el material estéril que lo
cubre pueda ser retirado con facilidad. Un rajo se construye con un
determinado ángulo de talud, con bancos y bermas en las que se realizan
las tronaduras, de donde sale el material que luego será transportado por
estas mismas vías en grandes camiones.

Para la evaluación y desarrollo de esta oportunidad de negocio, nuestra empresa Fore

Mining Ltda. Se enfocara en el análisis de los datos obtenidos del yacimiento Illary,
ubicado en la comuna de Pica, Región de Tarapacá, a 4400 msnm. Por las
características y ubicación la forma de extracción será a rajo abierto.
Copper, Chile's main economic engine and which over time has been the focus
of the emergence of new cities and creation of new jobs, has resulted in greater
well-being for the country.

Chile has considerably increased its production of Copper, it should be noted

that only one company, CODELCO, represents 33% of the national production of
this mineral.

To obtain this precious metal, in our country there are 2 ways to extract it from
the earth:

I) Underground extraction: this is done when a deposit has a very thick

cover of sterile material, which makes extraction from the surface very
uneconomical. For this, different types of tasks are carried out under
the ground, which can be horizontal in tunnels or galleries, vertical on
pits or inclined on ramps.

II) Open pit mining: This is done when a mine has a regular shape and
the mineral is located on the surface and the sterile material that
covers it can be easily removed. A pit is built at a certain slope angle,
with benches and berms where the blasting is done, from where the
material leaves, which will then be transported by these same routes
in large trucks

For the evaluation and development of this business opportunity, our company
Fore Mining Ltda. Will focus on the analysis of the data obtained from the Illary
deposit, located in the commune of Pica, Tarapacá Region, at 4,400 meters
above sea level. Due to the characteristics and location, the form of extraction
will be open pit.

Después de hacer el estudio y analizada la realidad de nuestro yacimiento:

accesibilidad, ubicación, clima, mineralogía, entre otros. Se puede inferir que es
posible extraer el mineral del yacimiento Illary, con alta probabilidad de éxito.

Lo anterior es apoyado con los ritmos de producción establecidos y las ganancias

proyectadas en los 16 años que durará el proyecto.

Nuestra reserva de mineral tiene una ley de corte de 1.37%, 49.68 Mt de mineral y una
ley media de 1.55%.

Se determinó un REM de 2,56 y una recuperación de Cu fino del 85%. La planta

cuenta con un ritmo de 316022 tpm.

Al considerar una recuperación del 85% de fino al trascurrir los 16 años se obtiene un
total de 654556 toneladas de Cu fino. Considerando un precio del Cu de 2,34
dólares/libra se estima una ganancia total de 3377,51 MUSD.

Para realizar la extracción del mineral se desarrollaron dos tipos de mallas de acuerdo
a las características geológicas de la roca: una para producción y otra para estéril. La
primera tiene 24 pozos de producción y 21 de precorte. Los cuáles serán los
encargados de remover una cantidad de 37474 toneladas. La malla de estéril se
diseño con las siguientes características de 3x3 donde contiene un total de 9 pozos
de producción y 18 de precorte.

El cumplimiento de plazos en los planes y programas, es relevante y de extrema

importancia, lo que se traduce en entregar trabajos de calidad en el tiempo estipulado,
cuidando de dejar las obras tal cual se encontraban al inicio, manteniendo un progreso
con respeto al medio ambiente.

in the 16 years that the project will last.

Our mineral reserve has a cut-off grade of 1.37%, 49.68 million tons of ore and
an average grade of 1.55%.

The plant has a rate of 316022 tons per month.

When considering a recovery of 85% of fine after 16 years, a total of 654556 tons
of fine copper is obtained. Considering a copper price of 2.34 dollars / pounds, a
total profit of 3377.51 million dollars is estimated.

In order to carry out the mineral extraction, two types of mesh were developed
according to the geological characteristics of the rock: one for production and
the other for sterile. The first has 24 production wells and 21 precut wells. This
will be in charge of removing an amount of 37474 tons. The sterile mesh was
designed with the following characteristics: three by three where it contains a
total of 9 production wells and 18 precut wells.

Compliance with deadlines in plans and programs is relevant and extremely

important, which translates into delivering quality work in the stipulated time,
taking care to leave the works as they were at the beginning, maintaining
progress with respect to the environment.
