MODELO HUMANISTA.  
 

A principios de la década de 1960, un grupo de psicólogos encabezados por Abraham 

Maslow, comenzó un movimiento al que se le conoce como "tercera fuerza de la psicología"  

Los Psicólogos en cuestión afirmaban que otras dos fuerzas de la psicología, el 
conductismo y el psicoanálisis dejaban a un lado varios atributos importantes del género 
humano; ya que el conducimos por su parte indicaba que la humanidad no poseía 
características realmente distintivas. Por lo que respecta al psicoanálisis la principal crítica 
consistía en que se concentraba sobre todo en las personas con trastornos emocionales de 
gente anormal que busca la normalidad.  

 
 
 

Lo que faltaba era información que contribuyera a que los individuos sanos fueran todavía 
más saludables, es decir que alcanzará la plenitud de su potencial, se necesitaba un 
modelo del ser humano que hiciera énfasis en su singularidad y en sus aspectos positivos. 
Por tal manera se crea esta escuela psicológica, la cual contrasta vividamente con casi 
todas las demás, en virtud que lo asume un determinismo al explicar la conducta humana. 
Más bien afirma que el hombre es libre de elegir su propio tipo de existencia. 

  

Los Psicólogos de la tercera fuerza afirman que su causa más importante es la realidad 
subjetiva, de esta forma se establece que su propósito del modelo humanista sería 
examinarlo como un ser consciente, selectivo, analítico, emocional y único en el Universo. 
Combina las filosofías románticas y existencialista dando lugar a lo que se denomina 
psicología humanista.  

Así de esta manera surge el modelo humanista.
